Ah, my fault, I overlooked the pH number.
OK, so you have medium hard, basic (pH 7 and higher) water. Livebearers will be ideal. In a 250 litre (66 gallon) tank, a small community of certain rift lake cichlids would work, this would be solely a cichlid tank. Aside from these two obvious groups, rainbowfish are a colourful option in basic water tanks, a group of 5, with some substrate fish (several manage in basic water, check our catfish profiles for some ideas). Some of the medium-sized rasbora or barbs, nothing too small with the rainbows, again shoaling fish so a small group of 6-7 of one that you like, I would suggest barbs or danio over rasbora. Not Tiger Barbs with the Rainbow (fin nippers). There are some medium sized peaceful barbs, like the Black Ruby. Barbs, danio and rasbora are in the profiles under Cyprinids. With some plants, this could be a super aquascape.
