Right now in my 40 gallon bowfront tank I have 1 male betta, and 3 peppered cories. I was thinking about getting some angels, blood parrot fish, rams, some more cories and maybe some bamboo shrimp or red claw crabs..what do you guys think? Any other suggestions? Will different species of cories school together?
On your cory question, yes, different species will shoal together. I try (when I can get them) to have 3 of each species, and I have several species in each of my two aquaria. They chum around with each other and singly, as the mood strikes them. I have noticed that some of them (the C. panda in particular) seem to spend more time together than some other species do, but having said that, even the pandas chum around with other species from time to time.
And watch out for the crab, it would probably try to grab at the bettas fins, just a guess though.
