Angelfish I.D

Can anyone tell me what type of Angelfish these are ? They both look a different species as one has a red ring around its eye. Are they too young to know what Gender they are ?

This one is around 1.5"

This one is around 2"

This is part of the answer to your question. Both fish puictured are in the species Pterophyllum scalare, if you click on that shaded name it will take you to our profile for information on this species. There it mentions that there are several variants in the hobby, and your upper fish is one of these though I'm not sure which exact one, so another member will likely tell us that. The lower fish in your photos appears to be the actual wild form, as best as I can tell from the photo, though not likely to be actually wild-caught fish as most angels in the hobby are tank raised fish.

Something we all need to remember: The fish you've acquired was quite happy not being owned by you, minding its own business. If you’re going to take it under your wing then you’re responsible for it. Every aspect of its life is under your control, from water quality and temperature to swimming space. [Nathan Hill in PFK]
