Unhappy ammonia

After noticing my Guppy had a tear in his tail, I did a partial water change. I used the lee's ultimate gravel vacuum for the first time. After the water change I noticed the guppies hanging at the top looking funny. Did a water check and now have ammonia .25. So I did another water change about 20% and still have ammonia I used water conditioner, I do not have anything to lock the ammonia. I have at least 5-6 fry in the tank along with 3 adult guppies and 5 cories, 2 danio. Not sure what to do now. Need help asap as I dont want any casualties.

Test you tap water for ammonia.
Did you do a gravel cleaning? The ammonia spike could have been a result of stirred up dirt.
Did you change any filter media out?

I would buy some Prime water conditioner and use it during your water change.

I used lee's ultirmate gravel vaccum for the first time and stirred up a lot of stuff. I thought I changed enough water. I have 2 filters but I only changed out the carbon from one and rinsed the pads in the tank water. I will get some prime today.
