African Dwarf Frogs

I have an extra Kritter Keeper that holds almost 2 gallons. I've been doing some research on African Dwarf Frogs to see what kind of care they require. I think I understand how to care for them, so I really just need some help on the tank set up.

I'm wondering if the Kritter Keeper would be sufficient for 2 frogs and whether they like to be in groups or if they're just fine alone. I'd also like to know what kind of plants they would like and how many plants I should put in the tank? And also if they need a lid on their tank.

Thank you!

EDIT: I also read that bettas and ADF make good tank mates. I was wondering if this is true and whether I could put ADFs in my 5 gallon with my betta.

IMO i wouldnt put them in the kritter keeper. Especially one that small. They like to be in groups. Plus the need a heater and a filter. Do u have a light? I would recommend a lid. It depends on the betta, but most of the time yes, they get along just fine.

Ok, I won't put them in there then and I was thinking about getting 3 of them. I'm looking at some used 5 gallons for them. I do have another heater and extra fake plants. I don't have another filter or light but I can get those, too. Does it matter what kind of light?

Just a heads up, if you have a Petco near you, they're currently doing the $1 per gallon sale. So you could get a new tank for fairly cheap.

Ok, great. I'm very excited!! I have a couple more questions. The more research I do the more questions I have!

Do y'all have any advice on how to transport them? I will be moving into a new apartment in August and will have to set up the tank again, which is not ideal but necessary. Should I just wait until I move in?

Also, I've read that ADFs need to get to the top for air and that I should only put in about 5 inches of water since they're usually pretty lazy about it. Would y'all recommend this as well?

I would get the tank now, if you are going to, cuz the sale is going on now. Also the light, and filter, cuz a lot of places are having 4th of july sales. Yes i would wait to set it up. That will be pretty stressful for you and the fish. I tip with the betta is just throw him back into the cup you got him in. So he will be able 2 get air. Just watch the temp. The frogs are sort of lazy but will go to the surface of a 10 gallon. It is more of a problem in really high tanks, like a 29g. Also if u have a lot of tall live plants(like swords or tall bunched plants) they will lie on them at the surface. That is what mine did.

Also make sure you are getting ADF's and not ACF's as they are often mislabeled!

ADF:
Front feet are Webbed
Eyes are more on the side of the head
Waist area is generally more skinny

ACF:
Front feet are NOT webbed
Eyes are on top of the head
Waist area is more plump
