I would get 8 Black Ruby. I acquired 8 (4 male/4 female) and they have worked very well. They are in with my 10 Congo Tetra, and in 2 years there has never been a hint of fin nipping. The BR is a nice barb. They should be fine with your rainbows.

Just out of curiosity, does anyone happen to know if AqAdvisor is an accurate site? It claims I would be overstocked at 126% of 55g capacity.
