55 gallon brainstorming-first tank

I found a great deal on craigslist for a 55 gallon and stand so I'm putting my 10 gallon project on hold for now. Any way I would like to have a South American species community tank, I'm thinking angelfish, corys and as many amazon specific plants as I can reasonably grow in it.

Now here's the fun part: that should leave me a bit of "real estate" to work with, what fish would be recommended for this project? And what plants, for that matter?

In Heaven everything is fine.

Too often we underestimate the power of a touch, a smile,
a kind word, a listening ear, an honest compliment,
or the smallest act of caring,
all of which have the potential to turn a life around.
