I wanted to show y'all an update on my 75 gallon. Everything is going quite well. There are currently 5 angelfish(3 silvers, 1 marble/1 smokey), 3 blue gouramis, 1 bull dog pleco/2 amano shrimps. I am on the fence about getting 2 more gouramis. Right now, the gouamis only chase each other and don't bother the angels. They don't fin nip each other, just a bit of chasing. Occasionally, I find them weaving, circling and swirling together. It's really cute to watch xD

If I do not get 2 more gouramis, I may consider getting some cories. Again, on the fence about those. I also won't be getting the cories until I receive my new canister rated for 100 gallons.

Plant-wise, I have 3 stems of narrow leaf hygros(the angels/goruamis love these plants), corkscrew vals, cambomba(whatever has survived), wisteria, water sprite, duckweed, salivna, asian water grass, ludwiga and a ruffled sword.

I am super excited, this weekend I am adding a DIY CO2 generator. Right now, I don't plan getting too complex with my CO2. I am just adding it just so my plants have a little extra something. If I get moderately good growth with just this 1 generator. I will keep only 1. If not, I will add only 1 more generator. I won't add a 3rd unless I am able to trade my current bulbs for higher lighting bulbs.
The CO2 generator will be 2 2 liter bottles that have the yeast mixture and 1 500ml bubble counter bottle. My diffuser will be a powerhead. Once I get my new canister, I will use it as my diffuser.

The picture shows a working airstone...I have turned it off as of last night to prepare for my CO2 generator.

I am convinced that the duckweed multiples when I am sleeping. I now have double of what is in the photo below O.O

Thanks you two!
I'm sure I have plenty of room for the lotus lol
I think I'm set on plants. Now to let them do the filling. I just buried the driftwood for the java fern and anubius. I really like the pieces partially buried. Looks so neat and natural.

I had put in my second heater as well. Temps are dropping a bit in Florida and we don't use our heater. So I wanna make sure the tank stays comfy and I don't blow a heater from it over working by itself.

*whistles* LOOKIN' GOOOOOOOOD!!!! ^_^

I've been a bit out of the loop lately, how LOVELY to pop in and be greeted by SO MUCH PRETTY!!!!
Lovin' the new additions!

Java fern 'windelov' is one of my faves, I started with just a small plant, like one of the ones you have now - and boy! For a slow-grower, it has grown a TON in the last year, the rhizome is longer than my hand (and that in suuuuuper low light, and not counting the little baby ferns I've collected!) It looks really pretty once it settles in and fills out a bit, all those little frondies *luffs ferns*. ALSO a huge fan of all things Nymphaea (and really, how could you NOT be?!) *swoons for lotus* I hope ALL those pretty plants do well for you (and the fishies, too!)!

Three cheers for FORKS! Don't listen to JDM - it's a part of the aquascape, neh?!! >.< The fork stays, I love it!

I'm with you guys - I always 'plant' my rocks and wood. lol. Such funny things we say around here!

Did we ever get pictures of Halloween Horror Night?!! T__T YOU PROMISED! If no pics, I'll settle for being told you had a fantastic time! ^_^

Keep up the good work! Your tank is SHINY!

So glad you finally popped in! I was beginning to think you fell off the face of the earth. lololol

The new plants are doing excellently! The Anubias has already given me a new leaf and it's in the process of popping up another one! The lotus has already given me 2 new leafs and a 3rd is popping up as well. The leafs it originally had seem to be shedding off. I'm assuming that's part of it settling into it's new environment. And the Willow is staying alive. It doesn't appear to have grown or shrunk in size. I haven't seen it's rhizome change at all, so I'll take it as it is still settling in.

I'm certain JMD is just messing with my forks ;) They're set to be a permanent part of the aquascape

I did, in fact, get pictures of HHNs. I didn't get much 'cause I was too busy getting spooked. lol Many many people were flashing their cameras at the Scarers running around in Scare Zones, their make up is awesome, but I feel it to be rude to suddenly flash them with a light in a really dark area!

I wasn't too impressed with the Walking Dead haunted house, it was a lot smaller than the other houses and there was only 2 things in the house was relative to the TV series. All the other houses were OK, not great, but OK. Cabin in the Woods was shut down. It was opened when we came in, but when we came back to it, it was closed and remained closed the rest of the night.

Me and my BFF do yearly "paybacks" at HHN. Last time we went, I was drug through the Chucky house and I wasn't very happy about that. This year, I drug her onto the Rocket ride. Which has you go STRAIGHT up and drops you straight down, it's really fast and gets me going :D We went on the simulator rides that were open too, 3 of which had technical issues half way through, but we got free fast passes to rerun it later and they worked fine later.

And of course we watched Bill n Ted's, was funny xD
Had Jello shooters, which has an odd plastic taste to me, but BFF liked it and we shared a huge mixed drink.

heehee, love the horror night pics, thanks for posting them! I haven't fallen off the face of TFK, just having a hard time keeping up with all my favorite journals T__T I'm still around and lurking, thou! Your tank looks sooooo gorgeous, so happy to see that growth on the lotus, one of my favorite plants. I hope it keeps growing well for you! Are you going to let it shoot leaves up to the surface, or keep them pruned back?

For now, I want to keep the plant bushy. I was told that I just trim off the shoot and the plant will remain bushy.
Later on I may try to let it grow to the top.

Did some trimming during the water change yesterday. I think the Hygro is starting to get to the point that I can sell it's trimmings. It's mostly filled in it's areas, now it is time for the Wisteria, Water Sprite, Anubias, Java Fern and Lotus to do their filling in.

Found a baby plant while pulling out some duckweed! I think it is a Wisteria.

The lotus is nice and big. I've found my gouramis and shrimps favoring it's leaves.

Can see one of the logs behind the small water sprite mess

And one of my gouramis has matured into a male. I hope he stays the only male. Here he is chasing his favored female. Both of them get very dark colored, stripey and will occasionally swim circles/weave around each other. Kinda cute :3

Thanks Bekah!
It's almost complete! I had the thought of pulling out the plants and adding soil. But i'm not entirely sure if i really want to do that O.O
Maybe I'll just stick to stuffing in root tabs?

Oh I see your comment now!
Thank you very much. I've actually heard that if you have algae, add more plants. They'll compete for nutrients and the plants win in the end. I think that's provided you have inhabitants like MTSs and shrimps.

I keep getting a notice of unread posts but I dont see any new posts.

Anyways, I've decided that I will most likely keep my tiger lotus bushy and I feel that the floating leaves will block too much lighting for my other foreground plants. I might do some rearranging of my foreground plants and find a way to try letting my lotus grow taller.

I did a water change on the tanks and did a few motifications of my plants. I harvested some of my water sprite to make another bush of it and I am still planting some wisteria trimmings around the 2nd log. I also moved my java fern to the left side between the wisteria/water sprite And everyday my love for my tiger lotus grows as much as it does <3

I hope to get a school of cory cats soon!

On not sure how I missed it. But I was doing one of my daily inspections and space out moments on my tanks and I found some new leaves coming up on my java fern! Squee!!!

Lets start of the new year with some new updates!

The tank is getting quite bushy on the left side. So I took some pieces of my wisteria and water sprite and planted it on the right side hoping it'll balance the tank some more. And most of my ludwiega is now in the new betta's tank, I'm trying out a different planting idea in his tank as opposed to putting the hygro in there like I tried with Reuben(he's now in the hex tank)
These are taken pre-water change. I didn't get to do one today as my ankle sprain was not doing very well today.

And I feel like the angels have either halted or slowed down in growth. Either way, I'm certain I see some sort of size difference XD

Somewhat of a group shot

Caught him coming out of the wisteria

He is still very much a show off. Is also the "top angel"

My male/female pair gouramis playing together. They're often playful with each other and butt heads to the other 2 gouramis. lol
