It looks great
Do you mind posting your Flourish & Excel dosing amounts/schedule? I have a very similar set up and am really unsure of how to dose for a 6gl. I really like the oto. You mentioned shrimp. I didn't know you could keep shrimp w/ a betta? If so, I may want to add some also.

Right now I'm putting in a small dribble of Flourish each Monday. I put in a small dribble of Flourish Excel each morning. Obviously it doesn't get dosed on the weekend since I'm not at work. I'm going to be getting a syringe to use for dosing so I can be a bit more exact about the amounts.

As for bettas and shrimp, I really dunno. Notice I'm planning on tossing in $0.39 ghost shrimp, not $3.99 amanos. If Shark eats them or pesters them to death I'll just call them a really expensive meal/toy for him and maybe get him one or two a week from now on just for him to feel big and bad with. Lord knows the poor little guy needs it. He huffs and puffs at each new addition to the tank but they just don't care about him and he just has to ignore them like they ignore him.

Thanks. I think it makes a great show tank especially for my office.

The rocks that I added were railroad ballast. The rocks they pile around the tracks and ties. It's granite and tested out just fine with acid. When I took them home I rinsed and scrubbed them good then gave them a soak in a bleach solution for a few hours. Then I rinsed and scrubbed them again before leaving them out to dry for several days. When I got no more hints of bleach I waited two more days then put them in. I think they add some needed break up of the sand bed. I'm certainly loving them.

Rocks you simply found by the railroad tracks?? They are really nice rocks; I thought for sure you had purchased them. I also need something to give my sand bed some definition. As of now I just have plants and small (too small) pieces of driftwood. I'm basically going along and copying your tank. I will go check out the train tracks by my house this evening.

Yeah. The only thing I make sure is that they get cleaned very well.

The 55 gallon will become an African cichlid tank, probably. The betta tank, well I just wanted a fish tank I'd love, and that's a more natural looking tank. I also think betta's need a good home like any other fish, not a 1 gallon vase that's just one step above the death cups they sell them in at the stores.

In happy news, yesterday when went to clean my tank I found that some of the detritus wouldn't stop moving. Some of the fish in my tank got it on and had babies. Since the fy are dark colored and were hiding in the tree stump that the corys call home I'm guessing that's who they belong to.
