Hi everyone well another tank to the collection this is the sixth one and the las one I would set up in this apartment ( I want a fish room)
Little story about this tank I got it from a co-worker his son's goldfish passed away after 5 years I guess the kid was dedicated so didn't want it anymore so this guy offered it to me and I couldn't say no t
This is what I got
So I cleaned
And painted the background
So far I think I know what I want am but plans can always change the biggest dilema has been fish I have two different options but none is easy to find locally
If anyone is reading this what would you put in there
sorry carlos.do not think the pearls or rainbows will work in a 10.they just get too big. how about some celestial pearl danios and some kind of micro rasbora?these guys are really small and would look nice in a 10 gallon.
Since I haven't seen them locally I haven't actually research on how much they grow the gourami was recommend by jaysee he said that particular would do good but again I haven't seen them in the city I spent my whole day yesterday visiting different fish stores in the city and they don have them but well im still considering options something for sure red cherry shrimp so need something that won't eat them
i have an empty tank too :brow:
i fancy a species only tank….do you want a mix of fish…or something
in particular ?
and i'm having a look through members journals for inspiration.
Thank you sandy I'm trying to get everything ready before adding fish I want this to be a good home
Willow you should try the background painted looks awesome and about fish I started a thread asking for some ideas I would like a mixture but let's be honest 10 gallons are not such a big room to have a lot of fish the two ideas I liked are a bunch pf pearl gourami or rainbow fish I think the blue I don't remember the name but they don't grow that big. Do you have an idea to share?

Agreed, no pearls or rainbows in a 10. If I had suggested the gouramis for a 10 it was a huge oversight on my part. There are some species of blue eye rainbows that stay about an inch long that would work in a 10. If you can find them.
Thanks is not a hard thing to do the secret it's one layer at the time Do one thin layer let it dry then do a second if you did the first vertical next is horizontal and you'll be filling all the spots if you have a backyard or somewhere else outside to do it do it outside ( girlfriend almost killed me when she saw I was in the dinning table ) but it was cold outside and that won't let it dry
About water I think you're talking about what type of water will be so it will be tropical fresh water
Mm what if I do a shrimp tank ?? I don't know im still thinking on stocking for now next step decorations substrate and plants I'll keep you guys posted
The I guess I'll go into the fluorescent cause the African green hygro is the kind of plant that the stronger the lights the more colorful it gets red root floaters too i have two single bulbs lights that I use for my 2.5 gallons I'll try to get a double bulb light if I can't the I'll go for what I have
This weekend im getting substrate and may fill it up as well so I can start cycling process I want to add a decoration but haven't find anything I wanted a Buddha to place close to the tree looking driftwood but not sure yet I'll make it a red cherry shrimp tank and I see if I can add a betta without risking shrimp not any betta I want a white half moon so it will look awesome in that black background
Does anyone have any experience with sponge filters in a 10 gallons ? I started to consider it to avoid a lot of movementshrimp got get sucked by filter
Sure I'll check on that once I get home I got that link based on the name brand I saw on the light but ill check for more info on it Posted via Mobile Device
well, what i found from the info given, was that they used 3014 led bulbs.these are high output 1 watt led bulbs.this is similar to the finnex fugeray.this should give you enough light for low-medium light plants, since your are running them on a 10 gallon.there was not very much info on the net about these, which is why it took so long for me to get back to you.these should give you enough to grow anubias, mosses, java fern, pennywort, swords and crypts.if you want anything like baby tears of hair grass, you will need something brighter, like the double bright beamsworks, evo, finnex rayII or the finnex fugeray planted+.i would use both the 6500k and actinic at the same time.i was reading recently that the actinic blues do give an extra boost in growing plants.hope this helps.
When you turn it on both lights are on and pretty much im not looking for those high demanding plants
I want to keep ot simple so I guess well be fine with this if I don't get a call from work on sunday I'll be looking for that sponge filter and maybe start running the set up I will start trying to grow the moss walls I( need some more moss) and that would give me time to see how would this light work
Hi everyone well I have said this before I like do it yourself projects so I have an idea on how to build a sponge filter and how to build an aquarium heater so I'm going to implement that for now im working on what would be my substrate I got a bag of miracle grow organic and I'm getting out all the wooden pieces cause it tends to tan the water if anyone wondered before on how to do it the mos simple way is with a bucket and this think that I don't know its name some pics for you to have an idea...
So this way I hope we won't have to worry about coloration on the water as it happens with one of my 2.5. It will take about Hal of the bag to cover 2" on the 10 gallons but I have plenty of time I'll keep you guys updated
Si time to get the handyman out I built my filter last night it costed me 8 dollars simple pvc pipe some sponge that I had already and a little air pump let me explain how it works
so I drilled holes on the pvc pipe and one on a 90° elbow right on top
I put a cap on the bottom and silicone that cap to a piece of tile
I put sponge on the pipe and run an airstone in the elbow hole
so the way this will work as the airstone start throwing bubbles water is going to be sucked through the holes on the pipe and eventually come up with the air simple and cheap
If anyone have a question ask me
Btw heater project has been cancelled it would cost me more to build it than getting one prefabricated for this size aquarium maybe for something bigger may work
Sure I will I'm just waiting for some willow moss that I trade for my red root floaters so I can build the moss walls and start filling the tank
