Plants came today, got them mostly in. Stem plants are just floating for now, I have to try and find room o.O Picture below.

I also picked up my first school of fish, 10 Harlequin Rasbora. I turned the tank lights off to make it easier on them, so no pictures yet.

AK Fresh Water likes this.

Looks sick! Are you gonna carpet the substrate? That would look awesome!

The plants in front, and the middle, are pygmy chain sword. They'll eventually cover the substrate to a certain extend. More traditional carpet plants, like dwarf hair grass or dwarf baby tears, are high light requiring and/or need CO2, neither of which I'll have since the fish prefer low lighting.

This is going to be phenomenal when all is said and done. . . I'm jealous, and can't wait to see how it all looks in the end! Good luck - and keep posting updates!

I like the plants. What kinds did you get and where did you get them from?

That stand looks good. And the person who asked about "tint" meant wood stain. Did you stain the wood?

Are you getting leaching from the wood?

I boiled them all twice on the stove. They'll leech tannins forever, all wood does, but the boiling got the worst of it out and I can not see it unaided. The cloudy look is from the inevitable bacterial bloom all new tanks get.

I got the plants from Live Aquaria. There are lots of different varieties:

Microsorum pteropus
Ceratopteris thalictroides
Cryptocoryne crispatula
Cryptocoryne wendtii
Cryptocoryne spiralis
Echinodorus amazonicus
Echinodorus cordifolius
Echinodorus tenellus
Echinodorus osiris
Echinodorus martii
Hygrophila corymbosa
Sagittaria platyphylla
Anubias hastifolia
Anubias coffeefolia
Anubias afzelii

I didn't know that's what some areas call staining wood Yes, it is Oak stained with a Red Mahogany.
