I love paludariums, but I'm not sure I would like trying to keep the glass clean and clear.

Yeah I have one, but I haven't touched it in at least 3 months... It needs to have the soil replaced since its been a few years. Its a plant war zone currently >.>

With paludariums you really can't keep the glass clear. The emersed or bog plants need the humidity usually and it builds up so fast. You can clear it for a photo but normally all the glass above the water line is dripping with condensation, especially when the lights are on. The forth pic down shows this well.

That's what I figured, I'd like it to be as clear as the 2nd picture or it wouldn't be worth it. Oh well.

There's a guy on another forum I'm on, has a giant custom made paludarium. The front is actually only half glass.

Ooh..found a pic..I don't think he ever did much with it though.

yeah the problem with that though is then the loss of humidity. Plants that like to grow near the water generally like it humid. A lot of the ones I grow are either native bog plants or emersed aquarium plants that really like the high humidity. You might be able to make it work with different varieties of plants. I just couldn't deal with the evaporation issue of having it open front like that through our dry winters. The second pic from the bottom has a similar setup with the glass only going to about the water level.
