Going to change my Aqua-Tech HOB with an AquaClear 30 (if I can find the tape measure and it will fit my filter slot) and use that in conjunction with the TRMC. I'll fill the TRMC to the brim with nothing but AC 110 ceramic rings (decided to just order a big pack and use what I need) and fill the AC 50/50 with filter floss and ceramic rings. Will also probably put a pre-filter on the AC intake.

If I can have the kuhlis, which, according to the minimal research I've done, won't be an issue, I will be at a final stock of -

1 Powder Blue Dwarf Gourami
1 Mystery Snail (white)
3 Otos (algae-dependant)
7 Kuhli Loach
9 Leopard Danio
15 Ghost Shrimp

Not as overstocked as originally planned but still overstocked. All-in-all, I am pleased with this stock and as my plants grow in, I am more and more excited about having this tank fully stocked. I am in heaven, it's gorgeous. I can't wait until those ferns drop those plantlets and I can get them to fill that back corner up densely. My crypts are all standing tall as of today as well. <3

In my opinion and In that of many others, kuhlis need a larger tank than a 10.

The tank is looking good!

Don't hate me, but I would absolutely never suggest zebra danios (or any of there morphs like leopard danios) for a 10 gallon. They can get close to two inches and are just way too active for a tank that size (don't even get me started on glofish tanks). They just need more room to swim. Most danios are species I wouldn't put in 10s, although there are some that would work.

I also wouldn't put kuhlis in a 10. They have a tendency to act spastic for lack of a better word. I should have said the commonly seen kuhlis in a 10, there are species that would work in a tank that size, but unless your Chesh you're never going to find any of the really small species.

I think CPDs (galazy rasboras) are a better choice than the danios. Not that I have any experience with them, but I'm pretty confident that they are smaller and less active. Someone can correct me if I'm wrong.

From what I saw the danios very rarely get past 1.5". That's small-tetra sized, why would that be inappropriate? I can't get CPDs locally so they're a no-go. I'm looking for something mainly silver but with some pattern to offset the gourami. He's definately centerpiece. I'll nix the Kuhlis. Now the real trick is to try to convince my husbands cousin not to put them in her 2.5 with her DG, 5 neons and mystery snail.... Ugh. I really just don't like her right now. She had a betta in a novelty tank a month ago and now she is trying to give me fish advice. /:

More then their size it's their activity level that's an issue . Size is t all hat dictates sticking requirements .

Okay. I'll have a look around next time I'm at the LFS and see what else catches my eye. They were really still while the zebras were everywhere and I haven't seen many active ones on YouTube so I just assumed they weren't. You know what they say about assuming.

Well even more reason not to get them lol. If they were still or slow then they were unwell . Just like how often people claim DGs are peaceful passive fish .. If you find you have a DG that's peaceful and passive then there too you should question it's health .
I've been finding more and more lately I disagree with profiles on many common fish all over the web. Seems based on the behaviors somebody observed of a sick version of whatever species they wrote the profile on .
