Yeah, I've got a rock cave and a sunken ship. I can see he's not in the cave because it's light inside, but he may be in the ship. It's small, but there's one area I can't see inside. Do they burrow?

As far as my fin nipper... DF was just watching the tank from the other room and noticed one of my black phantoms is the culprit. He seems to be going after my guppy and my serpae tetras. It's the same one every time. Maybe I need a few more to make them want to stick together more?

My canister filter will be here tomorrow! Quick question: Is just one filter ok in a 55? I noticed in some other threads that some tanks have a recommendation of two filters for the size of the tank, but I wonder if one will be sufficient for mine. There is a spray bar, so I'm hoping everything will circulate ok and I won't run into any issues. I could always leave one of the Tetra whisper filters up if I have to I suppose.

What size canister? I'd think one would be enough for the fish you have if it's the right size.

Leave the other filters on though for at least a few weeks until the new filter is established.

It looks like a SunSun, but I'm not sure if it gave an actual brand. It's off of eBay. It says recommended for 30-75 gallons, maximum 100 gallons.

I'll definitely leave our old ones on for a while. I'd hate to have something funky happen with our bacteria.

Yeah that canister will be fine. I've heard good things, but never tried one. The size is right though. I wouldn't worry about adding a second since IMHO it's not needed.

I've got two pieces of good news so far today!

Firstly; I saw Playco (what my son calls him) this morning! I had turned the hall light on at 4am when I got up to take DF to work, and he scurried to the corner of the tank. I just watched him glass surf for a minute and then when I got the rest of the lights on a few minutes later, he was in hiding again already.

Secondly; I got the canister installed and running! I have all three filters running right now, and saw Playco hiding behind on of the Tetra Whispers. After a week I'll remove one Tetra, and after another week I'll remove the other Tetra and hopefully have enough bacteria built up in the SunSun by then to not run into any issues.

Your fin nipping should be solved by adding numbers.

That's what I'm hoping for... I have 5 Phantoms and 6 Serpaes, and neither of them swim in groups. Not even close...
