Hmm, I hadn't thought of anything like that. I'll try to plan out something like that. I'd feel better knowing little guy had some sand and was comfortable, and then I could get him so buddies. Thanks for the idea!

That would be great! My cories are just a riot to watch on sand. They actually sift it through their gills and dig around it in. They remind me of puppies sometimes. Especially when they lay in a big pile.

Aww! Would they have play sand at WalMart, or should I check Menards?

I got mine at Lowes. Any hardware store should have it. Then you just need a big 5 gallon bucket and some time to give it a good rinse.

Ohhh that would be a pain! If you have an outside faucet they are usually not hooked to the softeners. You can fill from there but the only problem with that is the temp difference might be too much. So you would need to figure out how to heat up the new water a lil bit. A few degrees on the cold side is OK but 10-15 difference might be too much (I would think)???

No we don't have an outside faucet. The only one is right outside our landlords townhouse. They took the knob off and keep it wrapped up so no one can " waste water". It's a real pain. We aren't allowed to wash our cars here, we can't fill up our sons tiny wading pool, I have to secretly water my flowers from our indoor faucet. And because I have a washer I have to pay an extra $50 a month. They are very stingy about water here.

WoW sounds like they really are. When you do water changes you can use that water for your flowers. Many ppl do and I have heard its good for the plants as its usually got nutrients in it from the fish tank.

Soo as for you doing water changes ummm yeah sorry I really don't know where else to go here. One day you said the Gh was 150 = 8dgh but the PH was at 6.8? The next it was at 250 = 14dgh but the Ph was a 7.8? Right? That's a pretty big difference! You had mentioned getting water from the store were you talking about RO or Distilled water? Either will have a dgh of 0. Soo the only thing I can suggest here and its going to be a pain I know is to take some of your tap water and mix it with either store bought water to get the hardness you want. Half tap and half RO will cut your tap water hardness by half. So depending on where it is when you do a water change will depend on how much RO or distilled water to add. Hope that makes sense. I also hope some one who has more experience will step in and help out. Cause like I said I am kinda out a loss here and don't want to mislead ya.

Well I got more plants today. I found sand at Petsmart but it was $46 for a 10lb bag, and I just can't spend that much on sand. I was going to check Menards but it was completely out of the way of Petsmart. My stepmom called and wanted to me to look at the pictures I had taken of my son and to have him try on his ring bearers outfit for my brothers wedding, so I'm going to try to stop after my psych class tomorrow.

Play sand typically runs $5 - $7 bucks at most hardware stores.
