Well to be honest, I would have rather set up my tank and ran out and got a whole bunch of fish to set it up immediately as well. I don't wish to do that at the expense of a fish's life though, so I am forcing myself to be patient. I don't know how long this cycle will take but I will wait as long as it does take.

I have my Tiger Barbs because the fish lady told me that is how it is done. I didn't know I was putting them at risk in cycling with them in there. That said, I am doing everything in my power to keep the tank at healthy levels for them. If it takes another 6 weeks or more to cycle enough for me to get more fish, so be it. In adding the live media, I hope it won't be nearly that long. :)

Also, I think Common Pleco's are probably one of the saddest fish to see in fish stores. I think about 99% of people that get them have tanks that are not nearly big enough to house them comfortably as they grow. I might take a large pleco from a guy that already has one and it is too big for his 30 gallon tank. At least it would give him a little more time. I might have to get an even larger tank down the road to house my rescued pleco. ;) :)

I agree!!!

That live media you got from the LFS should definitely help things along quicker.

I hope so, I am just not sure how long I should expect to wait for it to balance itself out. Fo far my numbers have looked pretty good. I just want to make sure it is balancing itself before moving forward. There are so many beautiful fish out there. I guess I didn't even realize how many options there are.
