New to this site, and here's my tank.

Hi there. Been keeping fish for about 3 months now, and love my fish more than anything. Here's a pic of my tank:

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v8...n/S5300110.jpg

It contains 2 Sterba Corys, 2 Ghost Shrimp, and 1 Vampire shrimp. It's been set up for about 3 months, and it's doing well. Soon I think I may add a trapdoor snail or two, and maybe some other fish.

Tanks: 40 gal FW setup, 10 gal Reef tank.

Thanks a lot!

Well don't get me wrong, I had my share of struggles. 3 or 4 bacterial blooms which killed a fish or two and parameter spikes every now and then.

My poor Corys have survived everything thrown at them from the beginning though. :D

I have found my cories, though not the Sterbai, to be very hardy as well.

Lovely tank, and welcome to the forum!

Do you have any close ups of the fish? Perhaps it's just the bottle of Southern Comfort sitting on my desk here, but I couldn't see any fish in the tank. :)

Oh yeah well, my camera can't seem to get a good picture. Currently, the Corys are hiding behind the driftwood (I made a large dugout for them to call home), and the Ghost shrimp don't even show on the crappy pics cause they're...well, transparent for the most part.

And my vampire shrimp, has disappeared from his home. He's been underneath the driftwood for weeks, with only his arms sticking out, and now he's gone. I was vacuuming, lifted the driftwood, and he wasn't under it. Must have moved into the cave.

I'll try and get some pictures later during feeding, maybe I can get a group shot. :D

Thanks. I was considering adding some plastic floating plants, but they always manage to gravitate towards the center, disrupting the flow of the water into the tank. Also, I'm concerned about food getting clung to the plants too often.

Anyone know a way to make it work?

There's a time limit to post editing? A shame, I only wanted to add a small tidbit of info to my original post.

You can't really tell from the pic, but the entire foreground is a large, open swimming space for the fish. It's not all that crowded with scenery, as the pic kind of implies.

hi
you've got a really nice tank there :)

when you set up a new tank, hide an extra
sponge or two behind some decor, that way you have
something seeded for you next filter.
