so i've been taking all these pictures of my new female betta and then i started to feel guilty because i was neglecting the gourami :-( so i borrowed my mum's lovely pentax camera (because it takes waaayy better pictures than my own camera) and went off to photograph both of my fish.
lots of pics to come..be prepared...
thanks pity the blue iridescence on flame's eyes didnt show up in these pics!
i think my gourami has grown since she's been in the 15 gal - she used to be tiny and she looks quite large now.
it's a she, and she is the golden variant of the three-spot gourami, so yeah a golden gourami there is no colour difference in threespots and the other larger gouramis, that i know of. those variations are only in the dwarf gourami species. u can tell the larger species sexes apart because males have long trailing fins.
they are probably stressed or under poor lighting...the ones at my lfs all looked like her, some even more colourful with dark stripes and stuff, but i personally thought she was teh prettiest
I also think that with Gourami as they get older their color becomes more intense. As she grows she might get some really pretty tiger striping and dotting on her fins. I see she has a little already. Very beautiful fish. You have only 1 Gourami, correct?
Your Betta is lovely too, I don't want to leave her out either.
yep i only have the one gourami you might be right about the age thing, i don't know. she was pretty tiny when i bought her and i didnt think she was growing, but then looking at her since she's been in the larger tank, i reckon she has had a growth spurt - she's starting to look quite gigantic all of a sudden
haha guessed as much.better leave a window open for air circulation in there
