New Kinda Rescue Betta

Here's a copy of a betta I saw advertised locally today with the picture enlarged (see below).

Although he didn't appear to be the worst looked after betta I'd seen I was struck by how small his bowl was, and how little the owner seemed to know about bettas, the "feeding every other morning"and "no need for oxygen as he just swims to the top for it" !!!

Anyway my daughter and I decided we would be able to give him a better home and in spite of him costing treble what we would pay for a Betta in the LFS, and a car journey costing about $20 in fuel, we bought him!

We've installed him in a temporary 7 Gal QT tank, he's been renamed Heisenberg (Breaking Bad) and initially he was a bit pale with stress, but within the hour he was starting to colour up nicely, and happy to explore his new home.
We'll be moving him to his new 10 Gal tank sometime towards the end of next week.

Looks like someone thought a live fish was a decoration, unfortunately. But he will be worth the money because you will know how much you have helped him! He is beautiful too. Keep us posted on your new tank and if you add any other fish with him.
