Just got this off of craigs list, the person I bought the tank from said it was a bumble bee cichlid. I don't think so. He is also in the bottom right of the picture of the whole tank. Any help with the fish ID greatly appreciated.

Kind of hard to tell from the pic but it looks like a Leporinus. Can you get a better pic?

Black Banded Leporinus or "Leporinus Fasciatus" it is. Not sure about the loach part. Supposed to be a mean lil burger. From what I have researched so far he is and he ain't, like most fish. Surprisingly they are primarily herbivorous (they have teeth!.) Mine, so far is not bothering either of the Silver Dollars or the Pacu.

Thank you very much for the info Jeaninel!

It looks like a Black Banded Leporino. They are schooling fish that grow up to 12". They usually destroy most aquatic plants. Hope you can get at least four more of them.

From what I have researched more than one might kill each other.

Opinions vary on the aggesivness of this species. Some people have kept them with Gourami's and Angels with out a problem. Others have had the Leporinus kill their fish. So far mine is still doing good. It is the littlest fish in the tank though.

The Pacu is only about 4" right now. I will be trading him in at a local LFS mid August or so. He will get way to big for this 55g. Thanks to all of you for your opinions and advise.
