new 29 gallon tank purchased

no pics yet sorry.

the planned stock... 1 redtailed shark. 2 peppered cories. 5 gold barbs. 1 black kuhli loach. not sure what else yet. any thoughts?

as for filtration, im going to try to borrow myfriends extra 50 gallon filter or one of his 100 gallon filters - he has 3 spare lol (is this a good idea for such a small tank?)

not sure on the heater yet, i have one extra lying around.

black or red gravel. some plants and a couple DIY PVC caves for hiding.

A 50 gallon filter on a 29 gal tank should be OK. 100 gal filter might make too much current in the water. Sounds like a pretty good selection so far.

thanks. i was wondering about that... the current from the 100 that is. if i used the 100 i was going to mount it on one of the ends instead of the back, so that the current wouldnt be as harsh. if that makes sense

Just be aware, Red Tail Shark = Pure Evil
My single RTS in my 75G is causing havoc on my Bolivian Rams and GBR's. Still looking for someone locally to take him off my hands. He's near 6 inches, and Pure Evil.

Even though it is the same planet, underwater is a whole different world.

Definitely don't get 2 in a 29G. I have 2 Rainbow Sharks in a 55G, and they seen to do well together, but I would never think of getting 2 RTS, not even in my 75G.

Not in a 29G. No more than 1 shark.

i agree RTS satan with fins
i find overpowerful filters a bonus they keep my nitrates near zero the only problem (depending on the fish really)is diffusing the output i do it by deflecting the outflow agaist decor like rocks
