New 20 gallon

Ah, I'm at four tanks now. Someone help me. :P

So the other day I finally got my new (for me) 20 gallon long set up. There was this whole gravel hold up going on. It actually came with some pretty nice looking gravel, a dark, natural looking reddish brown, with black mixed in. But no matter much I rinsed it, it kept turning the water muddy. I think it was deteriorating, so I just went to get some new stuff. After much shopping around, because I'm picky, I went to lfs that sells gravel in bulk, and got some mixed color pebbly stuff, all smooth like.

The tank is now setting, seeded with gravel, rocks, and filter media from my other three tanks. Also, I've had good experience with the little packs of plant bulbs you see at places like Petco, so I've got about ten of those planted. Waiting for the cycle is so painful, I don't know if I can do it again. :P

In the meantime, I've got tons of crap to decorate it with. My dad and sister go to a lot of rummage sales and such, and I usually stay home. But lately they've been coming home with arm loads of fish stuff for me, particularly a lot of driftwood and shells. So I've got 7-12 various sized pieces of driftwood soaking out back.

But for now, here's a look at how it's going.

Now, normally I don't buy rocks, because to me it's like paying for air, or water, but these two pieces were just so cool, I had to get them.

Coolio, your tank's looking good! Do you have a stocking plan?

You're right about those rocks, they're awesome! They go really well with the gravel too.

Thanks. I actually have two killies (American flag fish)in my quarantine tank waiting to go in(being treated for fin rot). After that I'm not sure. I was thinking I'd really like an african butterfly fish, but I'm going to be doing a lot of reading around to figure out what else I want to put in there.

It's hard to decide, because there's such a variety of fish to choose from between all of the fish stores in my area, and heaven forbid I should really remember many of the names to do research.

I will. hopefully we'll see a background soon. I was feeling artsy last night, for the first time in forever, and I actually drew something and didn't hate it, so I'm gonna grab it ad roll with it. I've already got an idea, and I'm going to break out my watercolors and whip up a background.

Looks good so far. Can't wait to see it once the plants start to grow in.

Do you have an ammonia source for your seeded filter?

150 Gallon - Mostly American Cichlids
135 Gallon - Angelfish Community
75 Gallon - Odd couple (Polleni/Angelfish)
55 Gallon - African tank
20 Gallon Long - QT
10 Gallon - Empty

Yup, there's three zebra danios in there. Before that, I had been putting in fish food for the ammonia source.

2 things.

1) awesome :) I love really natural rock looking settings, and I cant wait to see your custom background!

2) i hate to be THAT guy...but im going to be. :D check the dimensions of that tank out vs those of 20L tanks on the internet. The proportions look like a regular 20 or a 29, IMHO its too tall for a 20L. thats it! STFU BEETLE! <wanders off> hehe

I guess it's a regular 20 then. When it first came to me I took all the dimensions and it calculated to 20 gallons. But hey, I don't know what's what, it looked bigger than 20 to me, and was longer than most I had seen, so I assumed it was a 20L.

Also, thank you. I'll be getting to work on the background today. Here's hoping that it turns out worth looking at. :P
