Oswego is a small city of about 25,000 population that is about 40 miles north of syracuse ( central new york state) on the south shore of Lake Ontario. Perfectly positioned to get blasted by every lake effect snow system that passes through. I completed my masters degree at the state college there... one hell of a drive in the winter, but in summer its the most beautifull place imaginable as it sits right on the lakeshore and is also bisected by the Oswego River.
Hope you guys are a lot warmer than we are here in central new york!

ahhh thnx Chesh. It has been a long time I know. Been super busy around here to say the least. I do have the weekend off though so I will post some much needed pics. I finally got me an external filter, one large enough for a 100 gallon tank hahaha (over kill perhaps), been up for a bit so I get to remove the HOB tomorrow so pics sound good

I know I know... no pics yet. Funny how when you have been working for what seems forever that when you get a weekend off you seem to be just as busy .

So I go out and buy a Fluval Spec 2.6 gallon tank for my cherry shrimp. You see it seems that with all of the other fish that I now have, the shrimp always stay hidden, (not cool) so a tank of their own sounded nice lol. Questions to come soon. Mostly about cycling the tank as fast as possible. BBS

alright still no pics. Im sorry . It seems my oldest has lost the camera grrrrr. She will find it soon if she knows whats good for her
Now on to the new tank. 2.6 isnt very big for a water scape. So what I did to help the cycle along was, use some water from the big tank, used a medium sized piece of lava rock and some other medium sized stones. Pulled off some of those neat little Java Ferns that have been growing so nicely in the big tank and stuffed one of the HOB cartridges into the little filter system of the new tank. So other than the sand on the bottom being new everything else was from the already healthy running 55 gallon tank . So do you wonderful people here think that doing this will help push the cycle along ?
