Good lucwith your plants and shrimp, its so cold id be worried too. I have an idea from your rock encrusted tubes. I wanted to use fine gravel or sand instead of the larger rocks that you have, but how to do it without taking a ridiculously long time. Do you think it would work to brush the glue onto the tube, then roll it in gravel or sand?
Great tank you have, thanks for posting.

Thnx rsskylight, soon I hope. As far as the tubes if the glue is thick enough rolling it in gravel should work. The sand will not work.... The problem with rolling the gravel is gravity. The stones/gravel on the bottom side tend to fall off until the glue sets a bit. As far as sand rolling it just seems to embed it into the glue and not stay on the surface. I have had luck with the sand by applying a thin layer of glue and then dumping the sand onto it.

Good luck and let me know how it turns out. I do have pics going for my shelf ideal and I will post them tonight

Ok update on my shelf. It seems the aquarium sealant is not strong enough to hold the legs of the shelf on . So today I will try some pvc glue and hope for the best.

On a good note.... Got my RCS yesterday and all were alive and well wooo hooo. Though sadly enough since I have been home from work I have only seen maybe 1 of the 15/20 of them hahaha.
On another note while I was looking for the RCS I noticed a few little tiny tiny tiny fish swimming around in my Hornwort. Something tells me I am gonna have a guppy overload in time.

Thanks for the tips, nothing like first-hand knowledge before trying a project.
Glad your shrimp are well.
I'm going to be starting a 75 gall shortly after christmas and I'm thinking that a stack of 5-7 larger gauge , stone covered pvc on one side of the tank might work well for cichlids. Thaks for the great idea and continued good luck to you.

I think the ones in my tank are 3/4 inch pipe and 4 inches long. My new ones are 1 inch pipe and about 6 inches long. The new ones are much nicer I think. Thnx for the shrimp comment. Your very welcome as far as the info as far I am concerned someones trial and error makes life easier for others. Love to see a pic when your finished.

What material are you using for your shelf?
If you try a model railroad or hobby shop you can get sheets of thin plastic made by a company called Evergreen.
They're white, come in various thicknesses, and aren't too expensive.

I actually found a plastic cutting board. Probably 1/4 inch thick. The problem I am having is nothing seems to stick to it for some reason. Aquarium sealant, pvc glue, super glue. I took a wire wheel to it hahahaha trying to rough up the edges to see if it helps. If not I will check into something else. Thnx for the heads up

I know Im going pic crazy (sorry). 4 more

Driftwood with added Subwassertang. The rocks in front are holding some down as well

Shelf in the tank with added Java Moss and Fern

Full shot as of 12-22-1013

Another full shot

Your thoughts ? Ideals ? Good or bad. I did add some S. Reapens in front of the clay pot and got my daughters fish out and gave her my Ghost shrimp. They are all comfy in her tank.
