ok people i havent updated in a while bc im horrible at remembering to do so but, i have added 2 otos and they have clean the tank up beautifully and i got 2 of the cutest little baby Anubis nana (im pretty sure i spelled that wrong). well im finally thinking about my stocking list and have a few ideas

1) red cherry shrimp
the only prolem with this is id have to ship and i kinda dont want to

2) african dwarf frogs
they are super cute but ive never been able to keep them alive for whatever reason.

3) 6 or so platy
1-2 dwarf gourami
and something on the bottom

4)sarpae tetras or cherry barbs
with maybe some rainbow sharks?

now i also thought of hatchet fish and kuhli loaches but i really dont know so suggestions and anything you can think of would be awesome !!!!!

The shark would be fine because you can only keep one in a tank, but the kuhlis like a lot of friends so, maybe not such a good idea.
Good luck!

Hrm. Rainbow Shark, are you guys talking about Epalzeorhynchos frenatus?
Do your research into this one. I'm pretty sure these babies need a minimum of 55g tank (4 feet or preferably larger!). Double check me, please - but I don't think this is a suitable fish for a 20L! >.<

Kuhli loaches and African Dwarf frogs might be fantastic in here! I've never kept shrimp, so not so sure about those. . . seems like they could work out.

I'd probably go with Cherry Barbs over Serpae Tetra, but I've never kept or done much research into these fish. I know they can be nippy. Platy could be nice. . .

What is your water hardness in this tank? That's the best place to start with stocking!

its been a while since ive tested bc i havent been worried about it bc i do wc's so much and its so understocked but last time i checked it was fairly neutral but a little on the softer side... if that makes any sense

i went ahead and got four platy and something ive never seen before which is a south american bumblebee catfish? idk but i havent seen his since i put him in so im gonna wait before i do anything else on the bottom bc idk whether or not hes alive or just hiding but ive decided if i get something else on the bottom im either khulis or cories so i just have slowly put everything together and remember to take pics.... i wonder if i can borrow my sisters SLR camera :)

but i will test tomorrow and see what i have to do :)

Congrats on the new arrival!

Common names are so confusing - so are scientific ones (to me!) Is this Microglanis ihering? Those are lovely fish - I hope he does well for you!

Do your research into this one before adding any other animals, for sure. If I remember correctly, they're nocturnal, so you may not see him much during the day, and I *think* they prefer a cooler tank, Platy do well with cooler temperatures, too. I don't remember if these cats need water flow? Definitely something to look into before adding other animals to this tank!

Catfish are so cool. . . you'll have to coax him out so you can share a pic of the little beauty!

Nevermind everything I ever said about rainbow sharks. Mine just did a dr jeckle and mr hyde and turned from a peaceful, model citizen into a hyper active, violent terror. I'm REALLY glad you didn't get a rainbow shark based on my advice!
Bumblebee catfish are beautiful, I saw a tankful of them a couple years ago. Also in the tank was a bichir and some upside down catfish.
Good luck with your tank.
