Awesome! thanks guys! Makes me feel a lot better about adding them to my tank. I will wait to add them after everyone else has grown up though.

How big is your ctenopoma acutirostre?

Question to both you and jeaninel: What do you feed your ctenopoma acutirostre? Do you feed live feeders?

Right now mine is about 5". She is not a picky eater. I feed her pellets (Hikari Cichlid Gold, NLS and Omega One shrimp pellets), frozen foods (bloodworms, brine shrimp and krill) and she will even eat flake. I also feed her the occasional guppy fry which I raise in another tank and ghost shrimp. She loves to hunt for live food. I never buy live feeders from the LFS as they can carry disease. Better to raise your own.

150 Gallon - Mostly American Cichlids
135 Gallon - Angelfish Community
55 Gallon - Polleni Tank
20 Gallon Long - QT
10 Gallon - QT
75 Gallon coming soon!

Mine's a little under 4 inches. I feed mine flakes, brine shrimp, blood worms, and krill. I give him ghost shrimp whenever I can get my hands on some. While I have a lot of trust in my LFS, I'm still worried about live feeders for the same reason, disease.

I definitely will not be using feeders from the store. I will be raising my own to feed them. I've just heard conflicting ideas on what they are capable of eating. I'm hoping for the best.

My LFS has one that looks a bit bigger than 6 inches, and the owner feeds him goldfish. He says they'll eat anything they can fit in their mouths at the time.
