I used this tank to house lizards and once they were gone I decided to switch to a fish tank. Here are my photos from start to finish. I am currently waiting on more ferns to come in so that I can fill in the open spaces. Im using Live Plants, Java Moss and Fern. :) I will leave the tank fish less until I get the eco system stable.....

These are my two options:
Option 1
Zebra Plec L106 or Siamese Flying Fox
Red Fin Shark and White form Red Fin

Option 2
Zebra Plec L106 or Siamese Flying Fox
Rosy Barb, Black Ruby Barb, Golden Barb, and/or African Barbs.

Haven't decided yet, Going to get more plants tomorrow and give my tank about a month before I get fish. Want to make sure my plants are thriving first. :-D

Final addition of plants, now it's waiting time. Have to allow my tank time to stable out before adding fish. Is there a good website to order fish from? I am looking for the above fish and they are not carried locally in any of the shops near me. Any information would be appreciated.

Update!!!!

I discovered three days ago brown algae growing on my rock and wood so I figured it would be a good time to do a water change and spread my newly growing java Moss on to the floor of the tank and remove the algae. Here are pics of the finished product, hoping to get my Java Moss to root itself then Ill spread it among my tank. I used sprinkles of gravel to weigh the moss down, have to keep an I on the moss so it does not come up and clog my filters.

Just a bit of advice for those that buy plants from other aquarist make sure you rinse the plants, I am finding snails in my tank now I don't know if that is good or bad but I will find out soon enough.

pick them out if they really bother you, otherwise they don't
really matter, you could place a lettuce leaf in the tank and when there are snails
on it,remove the leaf with said snails, then if the leaf is still useable
try again. they usually only get worse when there is an over abundance
of left over food from the fish.
the tank is looking really nice.:-D

New resident!!!!!!!!

Frank is the newest (and only resident at this time) to my aquarium, because of the conditions he came from I am watching him closely to ensure his transition is a very smooth one. If he is fine in a week or so I may get another so that he will not be lonely but for now he/she? has a 75 wide all to him/her self.

Your tank is looking lovely - and already seems to be growing in so well!!! Great job on the layout - pretty, pretty!!!

The "brown algae" is likely only diatoms - not actually algae and very common in new tanks. If you haven't gotten rid of it already, it will likely clear up on it's own once things establish a bit more!

What Willow said about snails - they aren't a bad thing, but if you over feed your critters, they'll multiply quickly, so you want to keep an eye on their numbers. Consider them your first-warning if things are ever off! ^__^

As far as ordering online, I love TheWetSpot Tropical Fish (based in Oregon), but you're a local MD peep! *hollah!* Not sure where in this big state you are, but check out Go Fish in Rosedale, if you can. They're usually willing to order fish in for me - Tom's Tropicals in Glen Burnie is a good shop, and keep a lot of variety in stock. . . *ish helpful?*

Love your new little guy! You said that you're watching him because of where he came from - is there a story behind how he got there? *fingers crossed* that he settles right in for you - he's GORGEOUS!!!

Good luck with this project - I can't wait to see how it all grows in! Off to a fantastic start for sure!
