I'm new, and I just started a South American biotope, and I figured that I'd share the pictures of what I have so far!
That's the whole tank. I'm hoping the Swords, and Cabomba will grow in soon. I'm going to upgrade my lighting ASAP, though it could be up to 3 months before I can! :-( Oh well....
I was given these 7 Glowlight Tetras today, and they've already settled in nicely! :-D Sunday I'm going to get 3 more Glowlights to up the school to 10.
Well that's all I have for now. Any comments/suggestions are welcome!
Pretty tank! It'll be beautiful when the plants start to fill in. I love Cabomba - it grows so quickly under the right lighting. What else is going to live in here with your Glowlights?
Thanks! I can't wait for those swords to get bigger. I'm going to add some more wood, too, for hiding spots, and decoration. Cabomba is one of my favorite plants! The water sprite in the corner in the first picture is poking out of the water now. :-D
I have 4 platys, 2 guppies (maybe adding another one today because they're being eaten by my sister's betta), and 2 albino bristlenose plecos. I have gotten the 3 more glowlights, and they have been spawning off and on all day!
Interesting grouping of fish you have there, lol. Good luck with that! I had to move my Live-bearers into a special tank and harden the water for them, mostly because they were too greedy for the rest of my community... happy to hear you have gotten good plant growth already. At that rate it'll fill in really quick!
lol yeah, the livebearers are left over from my last stocking (10 guppies, 5 platys, 1 golden gourami, and 1 striped rubbernose pleco), after high nitrates wiped them out. (oops...) The rest of them are new for my biotope. My glowlights are actually spawning today!
Yeah I'm really excited about all the plant growth I've had so far. The swords are a little bigger than in that picture, but not much, and the Cabomba is fanning out more I guess you could say. The leaves were really clamped to the stems for a little while, and I was worried, first time buying plants online, but they've fanned out now!
I got them off ebay. They're so much bigger now! The watersprite is huge, and the cabomba are starting to fill out! I got both my watersprite, and my cabomba from this seller eBay My World - mikeswetpets
Definitely a difference! I'm very excited about all the growth! I hope the kids in my fish class like Cabomba, Java Fern (which I took out of this tank), because otherwise they're on their own for plants...
