I just picked up this all glass aquarium, it's 45 gallons(holds water), measures 36x24x12", a glass hood, a penquin 330 filter with replacement filters, 2 heaters, a 25 foot python hose, a basic light all for just 65$. The tank needs some major cleaning and some good use of elbow grease, but i'm going to see how inexpensively i can make a beautiful environment for some lucky fish...lol
Ahhh I see some vinegar action happening to that tank; once you're done will look like brand new (I pers wouldn't try razor too much risk to scratch the glass up).
@splinter thanks for the tip
@Romad LOL...thank you, she said she had a guppy farm in it till recently
@Natalie I know that i'll be picking up some vinegar today(bulk size...lol), i've got some good filter sponge media that my LFS said would work great and not scratch the glass, you know i'll keep pics up of the transformation...
I have lots of time to clean it up, i still am looking for a cheap stand or some good diy sites to build my own. I worked in constuction for most of my youth so i'm no stranger to building it myself, and have the necessary tools to do so. Does anyone have any good sites they trust?
Vinegar works great on any gunk spc the calcium built up's on glass tanks.
I always just use the normal cleaning sponges from the kitchen these yellow 1's with green backing. As long as you don't put no rocks between the sponges & glass you're good to scrub :-D thou sometimes for the corners / silicon brushes work better
I'm no carpenter or anything DIY for that matter but I tested myself on some power tools last year and came up with this below...was told by a carpenter here on the forum that a lil thinner wood would have done the trick too but I was rather safe then sorry...routed the top edges gave it all a clear coat and done - Nothing flashy but works for me/ my tank :lol:
Nice work Natalie!!!You are like a fish magician or something...lol
@ buzz thanks for the website, i'll def check it out
