Well, it's hard to say. One of my swords has real thin, light brown-ish looking fuzzy/hairy algae on the leaves. It doesn't get worse and snails eat it. Since you have co2 going you have to make sure you're co2 levels are good. Do you have a drop checker? You'll need more light with co2 as well.

got 2 flourecent 20watt lights on right now. am planning an upgrade to 2 thin t5 lights and putting a canpoy on. already have the lights just to assemble and recieve/order canopy.

i dont have snailes in there because the little dps will attack them... bummer. i was hoping the ottos would eat it.

no i cant find any test kits for co2 or o2 and i'd like to check. also want a good plant needs test. like to see if the plants have the levels needed of phos, potassium, etc...?
any ideas?

Just have to watch the plants for signs of malnutrition.

Awesome, Eric. Looks really nice. I have pennywort planted but it looks great as a floating plant.....contemplating ordering more now Is that snail one that came in one the plants? If so, it's HUGE. Mine were teeny tiny and come to think of it, I haven't seen any lately. Maybe I should look on the other side of the tank

The snails are a funny thing. All of them came from the plants. The first snails that I saw are like the one in the first picture on the pennywort. They are dark brown, kind of football shaped, and one end comes to a point. The others showed up later. Their shell is rounded with the curl look in the center and the shell is clear. As the clear shelled ones get bigger they develop small dashes, like an Amano shrimp has. There's one in there that is real big. I'm not sure what they are but I think they are some sort of mystery snail. If they get too big, like Apple snail big, I'll get rid of them. I don't want huge, plant uprooting snails. But they do a good job in the tank.

That's crazy you got snails that big. Mine we so tiny you couldn't tell if it was a snail or dirt. The babies I'm sure I probably vacuumed up with my pwc. There was one decent size (I'm talking like the size of a pea if not a bit smaller) but haven't seen him lately.
