Last week I ordered on Tuesday and they mailed Prioirty USPS on Wednesday and I got my plants that Friday. I live in WA state. I ordered today again, and I hope I will again get them on Friday. You probably will too if they go out tomorrow. I was surprised it came in two days from Ohio. I receive and mail out all the time USPS and for some reason I thought it would take 3 days for USPS Priority Mail from Ohio. I think sometimes it can be slower than other times though (this is what I notice), but I am sure Saturday would be the latest.

Eric, question for you. When you fill your tank for the first time with the Eco-Complete in it, are you going to use straight tap water then condition it when it is filled? I was thinking if we use tap water (with chlorine and such in it) will might kill off the bacteria in the substrate. I'd hate to carry 3 gallon buckets up and down the steps to fill a 55g (YIKES) but think it might be a better option so the bacteria in the gravel isn't killed from the tap. Am I compeltely over-thinking this? What do you plan on doing?

I understand that. I have a hosethat can do that. But what I'm asking is if the water going in should be conditioned before it goes in or if it can go in and then be conditioned all at once. I just don't want to kill the bacteria that the Eco-Complete comes with by using untreated tap water for filling.

Did you get your plants? I got mine today. Wanted to let you know to be careful when you unwrap the newspaper. When I unwrapped one of the anubias today, one leaf was folded in and when I went to peel a piece of wet newspaper down part of the leaf came off with it! I was so dang mad at myself! I had to trim off the leaf completely.

Aww, it should grow back. I can't order my plants until I order my gravel. I can't order my gravel until the stump ornament I want is back in stock (getting them shipped together). The stump is due in stock on Monday. As long as it is in stock and I can order it Monday, I will place my plant order on Wednesday for Friday delivery I DID order a new filter yesterday. I was using an HOB filter which isn't the best for a planted tank. I got the Eheim 2213 for my 55g

Lisa. What I did was added water to the tank with nothing in it. I'd venture to say about 6" worth. Then I added Prime conditioner to it and swirled the water real well with my hand to mix it all up. Then dumped in the eco complete and sort of leveld it off but not in a detailed manner. I then started adding the water again adding a little Prime here and there. A few drops every so often as it works instantly. I did this thinking the water in there would give me a buffer time while adding the rest of the water rather than just going full bore chlorinated water on the substrate.

No plants yet. I am thinking they won't come until Sat. The address I was shipping to is a government bldg. Had they not made it today and Sat instead the Post Office wouldn't even deliver because they know the place is closed. So I e-mailed Mary and she decided to ship to my house address. My concern was them sitting outside until I got home , thus the gov. bldg. I arranged for the location. Mary said they would be fine for a few hours outside. That's good looking out on her part. Because it's looking like Sat and I'll be here coffee'd up and waiting.

Gotcha. Thanks for the insight. However, because I will need to put my fish back in within a few hours I think I'm going to have to do it the old fashion way.....25 trips up and down the steps with 3 gallon buckets. I say this because the only water source I have in the basement is a hose outside. Considering it's 30 degrees outside, I'd venture to say the hose water will be pretty damn cold. I think it'll take more than a couple hours just for the heaters to get the water up to 78ish degrees. I suppose I could use the excercise and plan on recruiting my fiance to help me as well. That, for sure, will be the least fun part (the million trips up and down the steps, not the recruiting the fiance part ).

You could fill it almost full with the hose and do a few buckets of hot water to temper it up faster.
