I love getting free fish!

Haha...went to the LFS prepared to buy 2 firemouths and a convict. This LFS I go to, when you accumulate $100 in fish purchases they give you $15 credit. Turns out I had the credit coming so the 2 FMs and the con were no charge plus I still have $4 credit coming. So no $$ spent. Love it! Here's a vid of the new fish in their QT tank with some swordtails. They are settling in nicely. Eventually they will go into the 135G once they grow out a bit.

Yay for free fish! What type of male swordtail is it in the video? Maybe it's the lighting but is that male an unusual color?? I like your new fish, how long before they are large enough for the BIG tank??

If you don't stand up for something you'll fall for anything...

He's a Green swordtail. He's hard to get a decent pic of but here's one that shows his colors a bit more.

The firemouths and con I'll probably keep in the QT for a couple moonths before I transfer them to the big tank. They should grow pretty quick I hope.

Ok, I'll admit it. I've always found livebearers to be, how do I say this nicely...well, ah, boring.
That swordtail is beautiful! So your females are orange but he is this color? What color do the parents throw when they have fry?
(I have no doubt your fish will grow fast!)

Kymmie, I have one female that is actually also a "Green" swordtail (even though there is no green on her, she is just a plain orange color). The other two females are the velvet type. Oddly enough I have never seen fry from these swords. I don't know if they have the fry and they eat them right away or if maybe the male is infertile? But there is one female who always seems to look gravid.

Truth be told, I also find livebearers kind of boring. I'm thinking of auctioning these off at next month's fish club meeting.
