Guess that fish!

Hello fellow TFKers. I thought I'd start a thread to help me identify fish (with your help) by making a sort of game of it. What's going to happen is that I'm going to start it out by posting a picture of a fish, and nothing more, and you will need to guess/look up what it is.

I figure this can be a kind of educational thread for all of us, so please include the common name and scientific name, and if you like some details about the fish. After you guess what the fish is, the person who posted the picture will check back to the thread and tell you if you were right or not. When you guess be sure to post a picture of your own.

To make sure this doesn't become too congested, one picture per user until it is guessed.

I'll start

Leave it to Barbman LOL :)

Animal testing is a terrible idea; they get all nervous and give the wrong answers.

I was a lucky guess ...

Oh and BTW ... it's scientific name is Puntius titteya. Don't know about you ... but on my computer cherry barb is highlighted and if you hover your cursor an info box pops up. Cherry Barbs are very peaceful Barbs that do not shoal as much as other Barbs in its Genus. They tend to be a little more solo and can get up to 3-4 inches long.

This is a great opportunity to increase our data library of info and pics especially. Anyway we can also add if this is M/F. I know alot of us cannot tell the difference and our pics seem to be lacking in some species. Just a thought. Of course someone like Byron will have to do the updating I guess.... not sure how that works.

I think you can submit updates to the fish profiles with data or pics and then one of the mods, Byron, will approve it or not depending on how accurate the data is and the sources used for the edits.

Ok thanks. And no offence meant to Byron for the gaps in our info!! He does an amazing job at teaching us and keeping us informed.

Now back to the game..... it's a Cichlid of some kind!!!
