Finished converting some of tank to sand (pics).

My tank used to look like this:

Now I decided to change the far right of the tank's substrate. Naturally, I selected sand.

Here's what it looks like, after roughly 2 hours of work.

I had to remove the ship in the end, but I considered it to be worth it since no one lived there anyways (my Vampire Shrimp lives under my driftwood now).

A closer look.

And an image of my Cories. That's the whole bunch right there. :D

I'm ready for the pressure.
The drama and the pleasure!

I believe I can fly!
I believe I can touch the sky!
I think about it every night and day!

I like it, you gonna go for all sand, or have a half and half sort of thing going on there? Could look nice, i like the contrast twixt the black and the light sand. Nice job.

Sorry about not posting this in the pics forum originally . . . never occurred to me right away.

Anywho, thanks for the comments. I'll probably keep it like this, with no more sand being added. I like the way it looks, kind of like a beach and then an ocean thing going on.

Can feeding be done on this sand? I noticed an algae wafer, which was pushed there eventually by the cories, accumulated sand on it. I don't want to waste food and pollute the tank if they can't eat off the sand. Thanks!

Just some background I found at my lfs. although I thought it was perfect, once I saw it I knew right away it would look great. It follows my tank's theme with the driftwood and lots of greenery.

I know the sand question was kind of dumb, since a lot of tanks are all sand, etc.. it's just that the Cories didn't seem to want to touch the wafer now that it was all covered in sand.

hi
i'm a little surprised they didn't touch it,
it could be that they just need a little time to get
used to the sand,as it's something new.
if it's the only waffer then just push it back over to
the rough side,so it does not stay uneaten.
what does that vamp shrimp look like ?

Yeah, they're beginning to venture onto the sand, I think it just may be a couple of days for them to realize wtf it is.

Here's a Vampire Shrimp:
