Discus

I finally got a friend with a decent camera to come over and take a few pictures of my young discus. Each one, with exception of the blue German Turq, is about 2-2.5". The Turq is just a bit over 3". I know it will seem odd that one of the spotted leopards doesn't look anything like a spotted leopard, but I saw the parents, and have others from the same batch, so I think some resessive genes may have come into play. I'll post again down the road as they get bigger and more colors.

Thanks,
-jim

I'm ready for the pressure.
The drama and the pleasure!
If there is one thing I want to see here, it's HUMOR.
I believe I can fly!
I believe I can touch the sky!
I think about it every night and day!
I stand in awe of my body.

The pics are great! I want some so bad but I can't find any sellers near by. Have you had any luck with mail order?

I'd recommend buying your discus from local breeders instead. Discus there are much healthier than you can anticipate with lfs.

In the pics above, 2 were purchased from a breeder and shipped to me (the panda and blue turq) and the 2 spotted leopards were purchased from a local breeder.

I've never been very impressed with any of the discus I've seen at my LFS, and have had breeders tell me that usually the LFS will get the least impressive fish from a hatch.

The local spotted leopard dealer isn't currently selling anything but if you want the name of the breeder that shipped PM me.

Hope that helps,
-jim
