Crayfish Attack!

Here's some better pics of Thermi, my blue lobster. i'm geting better with the camera, although i'm still playing with the macro setting cos it's so much fun! Oh, and does anyone know how to get the pics small enough to post here without losing as much quality, cos the originals are soo much better!

I love Thermi, s/he's really active and interesting to watch aroound the tank, althouh s/he's sulking now as s/he doesn't like his/her photo being taken, or my hand invading the tank with the camera! I get chased out after a while.

Great pics! And to answer your question about quality...

If you resize a pic, you are removing data, so the details will lessen.

If you crop it to just the portion of the pic you want, and then resize it, your quality will be better. These shots look like they are full-frame or already cropped so this won't work in this case.

Cheers JSM, That's the trouble with close ups, they are pretty hard to crop, as usually my image flls the whole pic! I just wondered if there was some software that would help as i am using just the basic windows photo editor. But never mind, If y'all want to see the bigger pictures go to http://s207.photobucket.com/albums/bb177/Matingslinkys/

Just checked out the large (full size) shot of the first one you posted, and it looks like it is small enough (in my opinion) to post full size. I am wondering, what camera do you have and what quality setting is it on? Firstly, are the shots on photobucket really full size?

S/he looks awesome btw!! And I do love the first shot!

That craw si way too cool, make me wish I had a tnak big enough to get a few craws.

As for quality, try using photobucket.com or photolocker.net. They seem to resize very well and don't lose much detail.

Unless photobucket resizes them they are full size. It's a Pentax W20, set on 7m pixels, and on my computer the original pics are 3072x2304, which is too big to post here right?

So far the only death in the tank has been when one of the Panchax jumped out when i had the lid off for 10 mins during a water change, it popped out behind the chest of drawers and i didn't notice till the lid went on wheni finished. Too late by then.

They tease Themi terribly, they hover just out of his/her reach, and then dart away. I'm certain it's deliberate. They are all gonna get moved to a bigger tank when i get the new one sorted though, which should help prevent any future situations..

The one on photobucket is a mere 768x1024. Definitely not full size, thats why i was asking. And yes, that IS too big to post! Think about it this way: the pic you posted is 450 x 600px (270k pixels), the original is 2304x3072 (7m pixels). So the pic you posted is really 1/26th the size of the original! Hence, the pic is not nearly as detailed. Make sense?
