Talking Color Changing Velvet

My former black oranda, Velvet. She was rich black before but she gradually turned yellow. By mid or late November, she may become completely yellow. Her ventral fins used to be completely black but after a few days, they turned yellow. I need to get some more new shots where her ventral fins are yellow.

You have the best looking fish. Her name fits perfectly - looks just like velvet.

What causes the color change like that? Maturity?

Animal testing is a terrible idea; they get all nervous and give the wrong answers.

Nah, it's the change in diet that prompted her black color to fade aside from the fact the lack of sunlight could not retain the melanophores (melanin cells) any longer.

Thanks by the way!

She's just one of the few that had managed to spawn before although the eggs were eaten quickly.
