I dunno yet I literally just walked in the door. I have been gone all day long. Those pics were from this morning when I feed the fish and left. Now I have another crypt melting **@*$%$!!!! So that's 6 out of 8!!! As soon as we get the groceries put up I will test the water and do a tank change.

Hmmm is the Ph higher in the evening then the morning?? Right now its showing 7.4 which is what it normally is but I normally test it in the mornings usually right after the lights come on.

How are the other parameters? Ammonia, nitrites, nitrates.

Was this the tank where the driftwood was taken out? Sorry I get confused.

No BWG that was my puffer tank with the driftwood. , I didn't test the other parameters *Slaps Forehead!* Last week there were 0,0,5 soo I don't think they would have gone up enough to casue a problem? Also didn't realize Ammonia, Nitrites, and Nitrates would cause problems with Crypts?

lol From what I've read everything can cause a problem with crypts. Nitrates were something I specifically read. I was just assuming any change in parameters would have set things off. Melt sucks no matter what.

LoL maybe I need to separate my tanks into 3 different threads now? Too many problems in my tanks!

Yes melts do suck!!! On a different note the Crypts in my puffer tank haven't melted yet! Though maybe I need to knock on wood now since I said that!

This is absolutely normal in a planted tank, especially a "natural" method setup. The plants use up CO2 during daylight and this reduces carbonic acid so the pH rises. During darkness when CO2 is being replenished, carbonic acid is produced and the pH lowers.

The level can vary depending upon factors such as plant load, fish, organics, etc. My tanks tend to fluctuate about 0.2 to 0.3 diurnally.

This also occurs in nature by the way, so fish are well able to deal with it.

You might see a change in GH and KH too, related. This also depends upon plant species; those better able to use bicarbonates will obviously mean more lowering of GH and KH during the day.
