I feel for you brother. Been there frequently and done that. They should regrow though for you. If it makes you feel any better you can be the club president.

LoL I don't wanna be the President .... I am still trying to figure out how to get out not move up!!

I think this was caused by the sun light hitting the tank now that the days are getting longer and the light has been hitting the tank right on that crypt for the past couple of days. So I am trying to figure out what to do as I don't want to black out that window!!??? What sucks is it literally happened over night! The crypt was actually grow and I have seen new new leaves then Boom it melts!!

Ohhh and I did get the RCS today!!! They are not full adults yet though soo here's hoping my puffer doesn't get to them!

I really don't think he will as I truely believe he is going blind... :(
He's about 3 years old now. I have had him for 2 and I believe he was about a year when I got him. To my understanding they only live 3-5years soo he is right there in that age span. Now I don't know if Blindness is "normal" for old age in a fish or not but I do know he acts like he getting this way. Feeding him has become a challenge over the last couple of weeks. If he doesn't get the worms as it is sticking half out the pipette then he seems not to see them or get them. I think at this point he sees the pipette but not the worms that come out.

Yay for shrimp! I'm super excited for you :) Of course, I demand pictures!!!

While I'm glad that your shrimpy babies are probably safe. . . I'm kind of feeling sad for the wee Puffy one. On the other hand, what a lucky fish to have been able to live such a long and happy life in good care! Blindness doesn't matter, as long as you can see that he's eating, right?! I hope little He lives for another 2-3 happy years. . . I luff him. :)

Does He still hunt snails?

D: That has got to be the worst melt picture I've seen. That makes you vice-president for a while. It wouldn't look the best, but maybe you could put cardboard on the tank where the sun is hitting it until you can figure out how to block it from the window.

Yay!!! Shrimps! You must post pictures!!! Poor Puffy baby! But blindness isn't a death sentence if you can still get him to feed. Those shrimps will certainly help clean up the extra bloodworms. You should have babies in no time!

If that makes me Vice-president for awhile what does this make me??!!?? LoL
The same Crypt but Melted all the way now

The two Crypt Mi Oya in the back have both melted now

The Two Crypt Nevili in the front melted too

That means 5 out of 8 Crypts in this tank have now melted!!!!!
These 3 are the only ones that haven't!

Soo yeah have you ever seen a kid throw a fit! Like on the ground kicking and slapping the floor while screaming??? Yeah thats me right now!!!! Those other 4 crypts did that today! Soo I cause tomorrow the other 3 will join them??!?? At this point I doubt it was the sun light and I think something else changed in the tank???!!!

I'm sorry, man. . . you guys and your melting crypts really make me sad. And NERVOUS! I think you've been bumped up to president again. Good news is that it's a sliding scale, and no matter what BWG says, you CAN get out!

A lot has changed in that tank recently, right? Scummy driftwood is gone, as is your glorious WaterSprite canopy... or, wait. Do I have my tanks confused again? You could try testing your tap water and see if there's been some flux in parameters. My water gets a little bit weird in the spring and autumn sometimes. . . *hugs* I'm sure they'll grow back stronger and more swoon-worthy than ever. They just have to!

P.S. Yeeeessss . . . entirely too familiar with temper tantrums, unfortunately. . . so stop it, or Imma put you in a time-out ;)

Yes Jes you getting the tanks mixed up. All that you speak of happened in the Puffer tank these crypts are in the Badis tank. I have been messing with the water to get the PH to come down but have been unsuccessful soo I am wondering if it finally happened. I plan on testing it later right before I do a water change tonight.

A swing in pH would cause president-worthy crypt melt like you're seeing now. I really hope you can figure out what's wrong. Did your pH change?
