I've been meaning to ask you about that! Is it only the bw culture that's still going? I know it's only a matter of time before I give in and start trying to grow worms. . . gross.

Hey!!! Loaches are NOT freakish!

I'm really curious about your worm culture too! I've been thinking about setting up a worm culture now that it's summer but I'm still leery about it xD

Does it smell bad? I'd have to keep mine in my room, probably, under the tank.

CORIIIIEEESS!!!!! Gah!!! They are sooo cute!!! And you video camera is amazing! Bad days do suck, but I'm glad it's looking up for you. Have you thought about floaters like frogbit in your puffer tank instead? I have algae problems with my water sprite from time to time, too. Oddly enough, the shrimps helped with a lot of them.

Blackworms culture doesn't smell anymore then an aquarium does.
The other cultures I had smelled a little but I didn't think it was too bad. Depends what media you use and how old the culture is. The longer it goes the worse it smells. If you go a day longer then you should making up a new culture you can tell when you pick up the container.

@ Jes, I still have the Vinegar eels but I havent done anything with them and haven't checked them lately to even see if they are still alive. I checked a couple of weeks ago and they were. I never really figured out a good way of getting them out and figured any method of doing so would be too much work and not worth it. So blackworms are it.

I have given Frogbit some thought but that's about it. LoL
Glad my water sprite isn't the only one going through an algae problem. Though its just in my puffer tank. The other tanks full of water sprite are not haven that issue.

Hiya Bored just to let you know... this is not fungus but a bacterial infection. There are a number of treatments you can use but I would recommend a couple in this case where it is reasonably advanced.....

Metronidazol used as a general treatment for the entire tank and formalin used topically.

In situations like this it is best to QT the fish in a hospital tank keeping a temp of around the 26c mark and using salt as a tonic.... try to avoid using salt in the main tank as it will almost certainly have an effect on your plants which seem to be doing well.

Badis of recent years are prone to bacterial infections.... an unfortunate result of breeding in captivity. So keep an eye on this and try very hard to nip it in the bud before it gets to this stage.

Good luck... you know where to find me if ya need a hand.

BA, BSc, MA.... hopefully soon to be Phd.

Ya. I don't know what it is about the stuff that seems to draw algae to it. I find that it helps to cut off the leaves that show large growths of algae when I'm doing my tank cleanings; that seems to keep it down to a minimum. And the shrimp help keep it clean, too.

Boredomb you are my friend, so I want you to know I say this in a friendly manner. You officially have zero excuses for not posting future videos with your camcorder. Let me check my math just to make sure. Zero divided by zero...carry the zero. Yep zero. That was holding out as well. I didn't know you had one or that it would take pictures that good. Thanks a lot for leaving me as lone the lone crappy picture/video taker on the whole forum!

I'm not just saying this to make you feel better, but honestly I think the tank looks good even without the crypts. I don't see the tank everyday, but I like how it looks. I think I might have to get some watersprite to try again.

I know where you can get some frogbit!

LoL ok got the pic guys! I will do my best for now on to use my camcorder instead of my phone for videos. Just know it will have to be on my days off though as it is a longer process to do it that way.
