I'm moving the filter from the 29 to the big tank, along with buying a couple other sponges, so aftEr everything settles down it'll run on two sponges with powerheads. I definitely intend to wait on fish a bit, probably nothing new for a month pr two after I first set it up. I want to make sure plants and such are settled in and have my new light and versatops on it before new fish too. It'll be just the guys I have for quite awhile reaLly...but that's okay :) Posted via Mobile Device
So I'm getting real close to Setup Day! I was thinking Feb 7th, then remembered I teach a knitting class that afternoon. It might well end up being Monday the 10th, since my days off before that will pretty much be finishing the stand top and rinsing sand and...well pretty much that, I've only got 2 days off a week, not counting knitting day.
I think I'll order the lights and the versa tops next payday. As far as moving fishes around, I'll probably stick them in empty tanks I've got laying around while big tank goes up.
Cool! They are really interesting for sure. I just really like the striped kuhlis. I also love cories. This is proving to be an extremely difficult decision. But I'm thinking it'll be a group of cories (possibly two species) and a group of loaches on the bottom...and then the two plecos. I love my catfish. Posted via Mobile Device
Three cheers for set-up day and bottom dwellers!
You can totally do a shoal of each in a tank that size! *I* would stick with the smaller Kuhli's, they're so much fun to have around! . . . don't Dojo loaches need cooler temps, anyway? They are cool critters . . . but I'm biased - I have yet to see a loach I don't like! ^_~
