Bek, I could be wrong, but I don't *think* that the API water conditioners do anything for ammonia at all. I could be wrong, just double-check before you rely on it :)

Prime does Ammonia and Ammonium. It also neutralizes NitrItes and NitrAtes so it's an all round great product. You can even use it at 5X the strength in an emergency. The product is used at 1 cap full for 50 gallons so even a really small bottle goes a long way. Try to fit it into your budget when you can.

Maybe i will go to the farther away pet store today and look at their prices. I'm so paranoid my fish aren't gonna be happy.

I got prime, and put a little over half a capful in my 29 gallon, just to be safe. the water is way clearer today than it has been, probably do to the increased water movement from the sponge filter. I'm glad i bought that :)

Yay!! Glad to hear the water is clearing and that you got Prime. I don't know I live without the stuff. What did the water params read today? (I'm going to make you into a habitual tester!)

Just a quick note, I bought the same package on ebay and love the snails! Beware though of snail leeches as mine arrived with several and they are very hard to get rid of. Heres my experience with salt baths if you ever find a leech on one of your rabbit snails. Several adults have died and got plenty of babies. The leeches transfer to the babies as I have seen a few leeches on one of my baby yellow rabbit snails.

Looks like a mod edited out your link. I did notice leeches on a yellow rabbit snail, but another person told me not to worry much about them.

I would do a little more research if I were you. the leeches multiply a lot faster than the snails do. what do you suppose eventually happens? even my newborn baby rabbits nails had tiny leeches after a while i noticed

Well, my snails seem to be doing just fine. I'd assume the leeches just become live food for my other fish.
