Who, ME?!

I NEVER buy cheap Viagra! Or the other. . .ahhh, enhancements that the spammers insist I need. I really have never quite figured out why they send me those E-mails in the first place!

Must have given someone the wrong impression somewhere along the line, lol!

It just. . . happened! *giggle* OBVIOUSLY, we need your calming influence to keep us in line. When the cat's away. . .

Spooks, your 14 gallon project is so awesome! Kaze is going to be the HAPPIEST fish in the world (under your care, I suspect he may already be, lol!)! If you have managed to glean even a shred of inspiration from my tank(s), I am proud (and honored) to have been able to help you along your way. I can't wait to watch that tank come together and grow!

Okay guys, it's QUESTION TIME!!!

Just wanting to get some opinions on this. . .

This tank was set up with an insane amount of established media, so I'm thinking that this is probably a moot point, but y'all know how cautious I am when it comes to my babies - especially since the critters in this tank are so sensitive to flux in parameters. . . Rams, Kuhli's, and wild-caught Dwarf Tetra. . .

I started with the 2 HOB filters and ALL of the media from BOTH tanks that these fish came from originally (minus a few plants). I set up the new canister filter using media from ONE of those HOB filters, so now am down to one. I think I'll leave the 'extra' HOB on the tank for a week *maybe* two just to make sure that the new canister is well on it's way to having a thriving bacterial colony - but I'm SO ready to be DONE with HOBs on this tank, and I really could put it to use on the Molly tank. How long do you guys think I should leave it alone and let things settle before moving it?

On the one hand, I really think that there is enough bacteria IN the tank already, not to mention the fact that the floating and stem plants should be easily able to handle any cycle flux that could possibly occur. . . but on the other - I'd rater err on the side of caution. I'd be truly devastated to cause any of my babies harm! I think I'm going to give things one more week (two full weeks from setup) before I get rid of the 2nd HOB. . .

Whatcha think?

Jes is the fiser media the only thing you used front the other tanks? I mean other turn plants of coarse. I would personally leave it for at least another week just to be on the safe side. If this is the case. You know there are more beneficial bacteria in/on the substrate and rocks/decor then in the filter media itself which is why I was asking.

Thanks for your input John! And yes. . . That's why I think I'm okay, either way. There IS more bacteria in the tank than in the filter(s) and I moved over ALL of the substrate and most of the plants, plus the real driftwood from the 29g and the 20g (there was a plastic piece from the 20 that was left behind, and most of the rocks are new, but there really should be enough bacteria IN the tank itself so that the filter shouldn't make much of a difference either way. Plus the media from one of the HOB filters is IN the canister, so. . . I'd really only be removing the media from ONE established filter :) I think I'll let things settle in for another week anyway - JUST to be on the safe side. . . I worry too much!

We'll being that case and how well planted it is I would put that HOB on another tank then. It should be Ok but how long has this tank being running for?

The 55 has only been set up since September 1st - I'm going to give the HOB at least another week, I think. The 29g was up since February, and the 20g had been up for 2 months. . . You're right. It'd *probably* be fine if I did it now. But a week should be better, right!?
