Angelicus loaches - spawning, fighting and dancing

Last water change, I think I ran out of hot water so the tank cooled a bit - triggered the spawn. I didn't even have the filters turned back on yet. I can't believe they fit in there.

And here are some other videos

Wasn't sure what they were doing here. The little wiggle looks familiar though

They just love the camera

125 - BGK, chanchito cichlid, pictus cats, silver dollars, palmas bichir
125 - cichlids (severums, bolivian rams, chocolate), rainbows ( turquoise, red), loaches (angelicus, zebra, kuhli and horseface), plecos (BN, RL and clown), denison barbs, tiretrack eel, pearl gouramis, betta
90 - Congo tetras, african knife, upside down cats, spotted ctenopoma, kribensis, delhezzi bichir
2.5 - betta

Boy, you know I just LOVE your Angelicus loaches - so amazing that they spawn in your tank. What is your water hardness and temp, generally? I know there are loads of people who would be thrilled to try to duplicate this behavior in their own tanks. Not an easy thing to get those guys to spawn in captivity. I've never seen it from anyone else. . . but the music leaves no doubt of what's going on in there ;)

Yeah, they are not known to breed in captivity. I have no idea what the hardness is and I don't have a test for it. Honestly, I don't pay any attention to my water chemistry. The temp is usually about 77 - 5 degrees over room temp.

It's really great that you had such a fish spawn ? Do you plan to try to raise any fry in the future ?

No - like with the kuhlis, if any make it great, but I'm not doing anything special for them.
