Your hardness is a little low but if you look up the specific shrimps to check... raising the GH is easy if it were necessary, but the pH would probably go up a bit with it.

ETA: 10 ppm is STILL not 'high' on nitrates! You've just been hanging out with too many plantheads ;)

Agreed and agreed.

I went looking to see if you had updated your profile tank at least.

Jeff.

LOL! Missed that last bit! I'm ALWAYS happy for mysterious packages from Jen, of course, but I'm starting to think that you might need to consider getting a bigger tank??! Hooray for uber happy plants!

I'll try and get some pics tonight, not much has changed in the main tank besides plant growth and super tiny shrimplets! Haha :) I have to update the photo on the QT tank though, plus inhabitants. Speaking of shrimp though, I've been able to get a closer look at a few that are out and about. I have at least 2 females and one male. I'm wondering at what size/age do they begin to breed? I haven't seen anything specific on it, just a general 'they breed like rabbits' haha.

The PH of my tap water is 7.6, but it drops after being in the tank for awhile.

And I get so bummed when I see people with 0 nitrate, makes me feel bad for having 10 :( I'm kind of mad about it actually xD I want my levels to be perfect, and those darn nitrates won't leave me alone. The only plus is they give me great growth on my swords.

Jeff, when you say tank in your office space, do you mean the 20? Or are you considering getting a small tank for your desk? Because you totally should. And stock it with tons of plants and shrimp. Just sayin' ;)

Ugh, I was SO CLOSE to getting this giant 120 gallon tank but the guy said it had a leak that needed resealed, and I'm just not confident enough to do it, and it worried me about the overall stability of the tank.

On the hardness, I had looked and seen references to ph (most said between 6 and 8) but very few references to gh/kh, and they varied a lot. So much different information...and a lot of it was a general 'moderate hardness' or references to having lime in the water.

So, I'm going to post this and try to get pictures while Jade plays Chuzzle Deluxe on here.

Pictures of the main tank, none of the shrimp though as I couldn't find any, they must be camera shy ;p

I wouldn't have gotten the tank either, but it's still sad :(

Growth and tiny shrimplets is EXACTLY what I'd like to see :)

Your levels ARE perfect, hon!!! The important part is that they remain stable. You're golden! There are people who actually ADD nitrate to their water for the plants *nods*

Haha, you beat me to it! The plants look soooo PRETTY!!! Gonna have to find those shrimp, and how are the Rassies?

When my swords have acclimated, they didn't do a massive die-off, the old leaves were slowly replaced by the new, hopefully the same will hold true over there. Crypts. . . no idea.

And some pics of the QT. Last pic is of my sand, this stuff gets FILTHY looking so fast! Ugh, I hate it! But my plants seem to like it well enough, and it was cheap.

Excuse the bag of media, my AC was already full of sponges, wool, and media from the main tank. This bag was also in the canister of the 35, but I couldn't fit it in my AC....

Also I had to re-size ALL of these photos. -__________________-

Thanks! I'm still upset at the paleness on m Rasbora, but I'm starting to wonder if it might be my lighting that makes them look different, plus them being younger. They're been having a blast with all the new plants, I really adore these guys and am glad I got the QT, you were right Ches. It really gives me time to get to know them on a much more personal level.

And do you see how GROSS that sand is??? That's what I came back to after cleaning the bejeezus out of it before I left, and the fish hadn't been fed not once while I was gone for 5 days. I'd say it's all snail poo, but I only have like 5 snails in that tank >.<

Also, Ches, after 5 days I came back to the entire top of the tank being nothing but duckweed xD I keep putting some of it in the tadpole tank as they like to eat the roots.

On a not quite related note, the majority of my tadpoles have backlegs and are changing body shape. I am SO EXCITED. Can't wait for front legs! They're just so cute, I love them to death. And I'm so happy to have another colony of toads running around the yard, they're my defense against those giant mosquitos that have already started to invade >.<
