Okay so I figured I would start a new journal as I am starting a new tank. I am moving back home to Rockville, MD into the basement of my mothers house...yay! Actually, as soon as I get a job I will be out the door running to get my own place.
Right now I have not yet moved so I have the 75 empty and Neons, Rasboras and the a Bolivian in the 29.
Here is what I am planning and if anyone has any ideas or suggestions please feel free.
29 Gallon Freshwater Planted Community
14-16 Harlequin Rasboras. (8 Current)
8-10 Kuhli Loachs
1 Male Dwarf Gourami (1 Current)
1 Male Bristlenose Pleco (1 Current)
75 Gallon Amazon Planted Tank
40-50 Neon Tetras (12 Current)
20-25 Bronze Cory (4 Current)
5-8 Bolivian Rams (2 Current Males in difff tanks)
1 Male Albino Bristlenose Pleco (1 Current)
I was thinking about this large school of Neons or maybe two schools of 25 but I don't know what other fish. Cardinals?
I could also think about doing two schools of cories.
Here is what the 29 currently looks like. I'm planning on removing the gravel and making is maybe flourite with sand or soil and sand. I need advice and thoughts on this. I will be moving Thursday and setting them up then. Not much time :/
The main idea is to get this tank to have mainly rocks and plants, I am going to need some wood for the bristlenose and hiding spots but I mainly want a mountain side. I can put a cave in the middle.
This picture of the 75 is just me putting the rocks in. I'm moving the big two rocks into the 29 to create that mountain side. I am leaning more towards a heavily planted tank with more wood in it. I think I will need smaller rocks and bigger pieces of wood. I have enough plants though.
Holy ! That pleco. He is just too huge. But beautiful music to go with him. And your little BKG made an appearance, too! He does eat like a vacuum cleaner!
Your 75 looks so bare now!!! I'm happy that Jes is going to get a lot. She'll need lots of plants to fill up her 125!
Yea Koi, he is huge. And he poops just as much too lol
I'm in love with my BGK! He's just...too awesome.
Chesh lol you're funny. I just want to see what you do with it Like I said just consider it a mothers day present for being such a great mom.
I forgot to bring the floating plants home again....yikes...so I better bring them back tomorrow! I'll take pics when they are put in...although it wont be much of a change because it's only a five gallon full and it's going into a 75.
It doesn't MATTER if it's 5g worth of floaters in a 75g tank. We've gone down this road before. You have the touch - they'll have overtaken the tank in record time, and you'll be pulling out buckets of extras in the blink of an eye!!!
Termie, you're too sweet! I'll get some pics of them in QT for you - that'll have to hold you over until the 125 gets set up! I need to post so many pics to update my thread, it's insane. . .
DUDE! TERMIE! THAT IS SOOOOOOO COOL!!! Tank vids to a whole 'nother level - one you can't even get to with your EYES! Very, very cool vid. Thanks for posting that one up!
Congrats on the new baby! Gotta wonder how many you actually HAVE in there!
Sorry I've been so out of touch lately. Been so hectic! NICE to get back on and have a Termievid waiting for me ^.^ And such a COOL one, at that!
Thanks you two! I'm going to try and plan these videos out more to give a story line ...LOL
This camera is pretty cool and can take better video so I can't wait to see what I can do with it.
BTW, my blue angel has this...blue spot over her eye....anyone know what it is? She wont get in a good spot to take a picture of it. I can try and get a video up. It's on her right eye, starting on the left now too.
That is an amazing video!!! Totally different perspective on a tank. lol I was kinda hoping the angels would come pick at it. I wish I had an underwater housing for a camera! You can bet I would stick that thing in the pond! Where did you get yours?
My phone always over exposures these colors but here is the tank and what it looks like today:
So the plants are back on track and everything in the tank is pretty stable. I have some SLIGHT algae growing on this one rock so I’m going to take care of that bit.
All the fish seem to be pretty happy and loving it. I haven’t hand fed in a while but I want to get back to doing that. The lights on the tank haven’t come on yet today but I am planning on taking a video and posting it so just wait for it.
Finally got to get a nice video of Cornelius in his betta tank at Interface Media Group (my work place).
He is doing great, the plants are doing great and well…everything about this tank is just wonderful. Everyone at work loves him and he gets fed more than my fish here at home hahaha (not too much of course).
Here is a quick video of him eating his food in his 5 gallon tank.
What a pretty little tank he has! I wish I had an office and space to put a fish at work! I still remember you talking about taking him and his tank to work on the subway! lol!
People were looking at me like whaat on earth is he doing! This guy started to randomly talk to me about his tank too hahaha. Funny how hobbies bring people together.
Your tanks are looking awesome. I still cannot get over how MASSIVE your plec is. Just like really... It's stupid big. Your angels still look large and in charge lol.
I couldn't hear if you were talking on either video because I'm in a giant room with a bunch of family. They don't appreciate my fishy videos.
Yea I was blabbing away in those videos lol. Nothings too important though.
Sinatra is the majestic whale of that 150 lol He's HUGE. I have someone else trying to give me their pleco but I don't know what kind of pleco it is. i think it's a common pleco...but they get bigger...
What do you all think this kind of pleco is:
Good or bad idea to take it? I'm thinking the tank is already filled with one big fish....
I have no idea what type, but I just had to say that in that first pic his eyes make him look like he's saying "please take me home, pretty please." Hahaha.
Oooh, goodness! Jen's right - he DOES look like he's begging to be brought home! AWWW!!! I'd probably just stick with Frank, though - he's TOO beautiful to share his tank with such a similar fish - all else aside. Isn't there a possibility that they'd fight? I really don't know much about Plecs. He's beautiful, though - did you decide to bring him home?
Sorry I haven't had a chance to get on here lately - so NICE to have a bunch of Termie vids to come back to, tho ^.^ Cornelius is doing so well, and his tank is gorgeous - I just love that driftglass in there. One happy little Betta, for sure! How long have you had him now, 2 years or so?
The other tanks are looking really nice, too - the 75 is so active and bright. I REALLY want to know how many Cories you have in there, lol, all that foliage for the little ones to get lost in! Glad all is happy over there!
Yea Jen, He really is begging to come home with me! lol
Sadly I did not bring him because I did think they would fight and Frank would probably kill him. I know he already fought with the L199 I have so I chose not to risk it.
I have no idea how many cories. I've counted 4-5 new small ones so far but who knows how many I have now....scary thought.
The plecs in the 75 are happy and get along...somehow lol.
I still don't know if the black male bristlenose is still alive or not....
I think my next project is going to be taking all the rocks out of the 150 and turning into sand...then planting it. thoughts?
's true, dude. . . your plants love you!!! I need to get an update up on how the lovlies that you sent over are doing, sorry for the delay. The real world glomped me! That said? UNLIKE you, somehow I am able to kill even guppy grass. *pouts* Still have a lil' bit, though! And it's coming back! SO yay for that!
I'd LOVE to see you get an underwater vid of Frank. He is an amazing animal...
I do best with pics, lol. Working on updates. Been sooooo busy this summer! Can't wait for YOUR vid. Termie videos are the best. I DO have a random video, it's older - and of the loaches in the QT tank. But I'll go post it, anyway. At least it's SOMETHING!
BEAUTIFUL!!! Gah, Frankie boy is seriously just breathtaking. . . I love him, and you KNOW I love my little Lucas boy Sooo cute. That song was great for that vid. You're making me want a 'gopro' soooooo BAD!!! Thanks for the updates.
Hey, Termie - how's your angel with the swollen fin doing? Did s/he make it into the 29 with it's mate? Hope all is well over there. . .
