Okay so I figured I would start a new journal as I am starting a new tank. I am moving back home to Rockville, MD into the basement of my mothers house...yay! Actually, as soon as I get a job I will be out the door running to get my own place.
Right now I have not yet moved so I have the 75 empty and Neons, Rasboras and the a Bolivian in the 29.
Here is what I am planning and if anyone has any ideas or suggestions please feel free.
29 Gallon Freshwater Planted Community
14-16 Harlequin Rasboras. (8 Current)
8-10 Kuhli Loachs
1 Male Dwarf Gourami (1 Current)
1 Male Bristlenose Pleco (1 Current)
75 Gallon Amazon Planted Tank
40-50 Neon Tetras (12 Current)
20-25 Bronze Cory (4 Current)
5-8 Bolivian Rams (2 Current Males in difff tanks)
1 Male Albino Bristlenose Pleco (1 Current)
I was thinking about this large school of Neons or maybe two schools of 25 but I don't know what other fish. Cardinals?
I could also think about doing two schools of cories.
Here is what the 29 currently looks like. I'm planning on removing the gravel and making is maybe flourite with sand or soil and sand. I need advice and thoughts on this. I will be moving Thursday and setting them up then. Not much time :/
The main idea is to get this tank to have mainly rocks and plants, I am going to need some wood for the bristlenose and hiding spots but I mainly want a mountain side. I can put a cave in the middle.
This picture of the 75 is just me putting the rocks in. I'm moving the big two rocks into the 29 to create that mountain side. I am leaning more towards a heavily planted tank with more wood in it. I think I will need smaller rocks and bigger pieces of wood. I have enough plants though.
Do fish like to live in water? Of course I do. Considering how things are going with Queen I'm looking to get that tank one way or another, they need their own spot. Hit me on Skype or via note sometime :3
Suuuuuuure! You lookin' to thin out? They don't really do anything for me, except sit there being green. . . but I can give 'em a try for when I set up my dirt tank. . . be interesting at least!
If you haven't been in chat, you have to look on Fox's thread. Some crazy action going on in that tank!
I have sand. I use pills with dry furtz under the sand. I also put in wet furtz a few times a week. Their growing too much for me. I need to section them off. They have taken over the tank.
That's awesome! I'm pretty sure I'm going to up my 'Beans to 50 in the 125. Now that I've kept 20, and don't think that's a lot, I'll never go back to 6, 9, 12. . . big shoals of small fish are amazing! how are their colors today?
There are about 2-3 that still haven't colored up on the tails but overall they are doing good. sometimes I see the big shoal split up into two shoals but I'll give them some time to get used to one another.
Yeah I agree. No less than....20....hahah...ever.
I like my split shoal of neons and rummy's in the 75 though. Too cool.
Termie, I always find your videos - and the commentary you provide - so entertaining! Glad you stopped in with an update! The tank looks so lush, as always, plants look like they're doing great! I don't see any more algae - yay for you!
BURT! *SQUEEEEEEEE* I MISS BURT!!! He's so cute back there in his lil' cave nomming on Cory eggs. Those naughty Angels! It's probably a good thing that eggs are so tasty, I can't IMAGINE how many Cories you'd have by now if not O.O They look so sweet chillin' out under your leaves, Awww! And Angels! I hope you DO decide to put them into (did you say the 29?) and let them spawn. Baby Angelfish are soooooo c u t e! This will be a fun adventure for you, I'm sure. You got sooooo excited when you first caught them spawning, and found that lil' baby Cory *giggle* I can't wait for there to be baby Angels!!!
Was that a question? If so then sure! I'd be thrilled to be sent a sword. Seriously no rush, it's okay to forget about me if you want to, honest! I'll still be here when you remember. . .
Spent any time at Drift Glass Studios lately? How's the Betta? How 'bout Ol' Franky 'Blue Eyes?,' and the beautiful Rasa shoal?
So the angels got in a fight after the last breeding because everyone keeps eating their eggs. The female took a bit of the males fin, but he's ok. They have already started cleaning off another area to spawn again. Crazy fish I tell you.
I really need to just set that 29 up for them.
Soooo...I GOT A NEW FISH!! A black ghost knife for my 150! YAY
I know...it's sad to see him alone. When the ghost knife came in the tank they were buddies for a bit. They seem to get along. I asked the fish store to order bigger sized Yoyo's but they haven't gotten them in yet
As for the angels...well...lol I need to figure out where I'm gonna put that 29 because I have NOOO idea. I'm kind of out of room with a 150 Gallon and 75 Gallon tank in my room. Sang knows the feeling LOL.
I'm getting really sick of this gravel in the 150. I'm considering switching it all out for sand. I'm just going to go full planted on it. i dislike non planted tanks...they look...boring. It's no fun hahah.
Yeah, you guys and your awesome giant tanks, lol. I barely have room for ONE 125 - and I have an entire house! I hear ya about planted tanks, and gravel. . . I have the same preferences there. Good luck changing the substrate on the other giant tank!
Haha! Your updates are always sooo funny! Awesome new BKG! You gotta name something that awesome...
As for the substrate swap... do it sooner rather than later. They're just such a PITA and having to pull a ton of plants out beforehand just makes it worse.
It's only the second time i've done it so as you can see they are not as used to it as Chesh's fish are. My female angel is a bad ass though and isn't scared of nothing. LOL
Lol I think you double posted. Your plants!! They have overtaken everything!! How can you see your fish but at feeding time?! It's gorgeous, tho! Also a great choice of a song. Fits your tank perfectly!!
I love the song, and the video, too. . . hand feeding is so fun! If you keep doing it just like that, it won't be long before they all swarm you EVERY TIME your hands are in the tank. Makes water-changes and/or pruning a bit tricker - but it's worth it!
Ahhhh! I hope you get everything squared away for the ghostie, and find some buddies for the lonely loach. . .
I'm always happy when you come back to update! I think I need to see Frank and Lucas, though. . . please?!
So after I removed a BUNCH of plants from the tank (see attached images)
I took a video of the tank. I was able to get BOTH plecos!!!! Still no sign of the black bristlenose though.... I am hoping he just hides under the anubias rocks.... I got everyone else in the video though!
I then fed the 150 gallon. i got some footage of all the fish as well
OMGOMGOMG!!!*ISH SOOOOO EXCITED ABOUT ALL.THOSE.PLANTS!!!* O.O
. . .running out the door right now, but I'll be BACK to check that video (excited about that, too!) and leave my comments later. SO happy you're back. Stick around, babe! We miss you!
O.O I can see the TANK again!!! LOL, that was a TON of plants, it looks naked compared to the before. Frank is just stunning, and Lucas is so cute hiding back in the leaves. Your BNP has gotten so big since you got him. . . Looks so happy!
That is very nice, good aquascape. Floating plants will add the finishing touch.
