Okay so I figured I would start a new journal as I am starting a new tank. I am moving back home to Rockville, MD into the basement of my mothers house...yay! Actually, as soon as I get a job I will be out the door running to get my own place.

Right now I have not yet moved so I have the 75 empty and Neons, Rasboras and the a Bolivian in the 29.

Here is what I am planning and if anyone has any ideas or suggestions please feel free.

29 Gallon Freshwater Planted Community
  • 14-16 Harlequin Rasboras. (8 Current)
  • 8-10 Kuhli Loachs
  • 1 Male Dwarf Gourami (1 Current)
  • 1 Male Bristlenose Pleco (1 Current)

75 Gallon Amazon Planted Tank
  • 40-50 Neon Tetras (12 Current)
  • 20-25 Bronze Cory (4 Current)
  • 5-8 Bolivian Rams (2 Current Males in difff tanks)
  • 1 Male Albino Bristlenose Pleco (1 Current)

I was thinking about this large school of Neons or maybe two schools of 25 but I don't know what other fish. Cardinals?

I could also think about doing two schools of cories.

Here is what the 29 currently looks like. I'm planning on removing the gravel and making is maybe flourite with sand or soil and sand. I need advice and thoughts on this. I will be moving Thursday and setting them up then. Not much time :/

The main idea is to get this tank to have mainly rocks and plants, I am going to need some wood for the bristlenose and hiding spots but I mainly want a mountain side. I can put a cave in the middle.

This picture of the 75 is just me putting the rocks in. I'm moving the big two rocks into the 29 to create that mountain side. I am leaning more towards a heavily planted tank with more wood in it. I think I will need smaller rocks and bigger pieces of wood. I have enough plants though.

I agree with Byron's suggestion of holding very sill for a very long time before thinking you know what's going on in a tank, lol. I often set up my video camera to record, then leave the room. ESPECIALLY with the cichlids - they're so very aware of what's going on outside of their tank. I wonder how often he's been bullying the others?

Yeah, what he was doing sounds more like the behavior you described Byron. He does ram them, but I have noticed sometimes he nips too. When I get home tomorrow I will sit in front of the tank again and observe their behavior.

He seems to be enjoying the added cover of some plants I re-arranged and has calmed down a bit. Hopefully he wont be going after the cories too much more.

The cories matted again lol.

I got the 150 Gallon today :)

It's going to go here (in place of the 29) stuff is messy because I'm moving everything:

OMG Termy, it's beginning to shape up to be awesome!

Looks BEAUTIFUL!!! :) So shiny and NEW! GAHHHH. . . I can't wait!!!

I just asked, because looking at the vent on that shot. . . he really looks like my shes! Pictures can be tricky, though. One of my females has all of the other 'signs' of being a male, the extended rays on her topfin, the pretty long trailers on her tail fin anal fin, the head shape - but the vent shows her to be a female, as did C.Cat trying to mate with her, lol!

Whatever it is, Lucas is gorgeous - and so is that STAND!!! OMG!!! *jealous* I can't wait to see it all going up! So close!!!

YAY!!! That's so exciting! I know just how you feel - cuz' you sound just like me when my rams spawned, lol! I'm so happy for you - nothing more amazing. So cool that you caught them in the act, thanks for thinking to video it, and sharing it with us! :)

Haha, you have the greatest luck with these things termy. Though I can't help but wonder, did they attach their eggs to the heater? Is that going to affect the eggs adversely when it comes to growth? Or will they be fine like that?

Sorry it took me so long to get back to all of you. For some reason the email updates stopped sending again...WEIRD!

Their actually laying more eggs down right now! :) hahahah

They laid them on the filter intake.

I was SOOOO excited.

So I finally took my betta tank into work and he has settled in nicely. I unpacked the tank and covered it in a towel. I put Cornelius (the betta) in a container and carried them all in the metro to D.C. hahha everyone was looking at me like wtf is he doing...does he have a bomB!? lol

Everyone at work seems to like him there so that is good ;)

Here is a shot of the fish room right now (literally):

That's great to hear that your betta made it over in good shape. That's one ride I would have loved to see! As always your tanks are looking gorgeous.
