That would be cool! Fish ornaments! lol oh man...

Yeah only in the 5 gallon right now. I was gonna put it in the 10 but it crashed right after I moved the otos to the 29. I need to make more stuff! AHHH!!

I have two Drift-Glass set ups made that are epoxied together and water safe. I need to put them in a tank and take some pictures.

You really do, Termie! I still want some driftglass for my QT tank. . . I think it's ideal. Start making caves and such, too. . . and fish ornaments, lol! It's such a shame that the price of using the studio and getting supplies for glass-blowing is so expensive. It's an amazing artform!

That's half the reason why legitimate glass art costs so much.

I'm 100% going into the studio before Christmas so I can def do something like that.

I already have two separate pink/purple sets of drift-glass if you wanted to check those out :)

As for caves....I never thought of that....what a great idea! hahahaha

No pink for MEEE! Though the purple one is stunning, I really like that one... I'm totally broke for the holidays, anyway, and I HAVE to invest on new lighting for my 55 before anything else. :/ If you can do a smallish fishy ornament I'd buy it from you, though. But my tree is silver and blue, I don't know if you have those colors laying around. Clear works, too. I'd love a hand-made blown glass fish on my tree - as odd as that sounds. Plus, I could keep it up in a window all year around :)

Caves seem like another wonderful idea for the QT tank. I'd really like to set up a permanent 10g QT using glass ornaments. I'd want a matching set, some driftglass, and some drift 'rock' caves, lol. I think I'd want to go with grey or brown, though. Maybe a darker green color mixed with brown - more natural colors. Again, totally broke right now, but if you can come up with an idea for a 10g QT 'set' and let me know how much you'd charge for it, you know this is something I've been interested in for a while. I doubt I'll have any money this time you head to the workshop, but maybe over the summer after I've recovered from Christmas!

Oooooh! Maybe for next year you can make a glass CHRISTMAS TREE ornament. I'd TOTALLY decorate my tank for the holidays ;) The kids would love that, lol! *I'm so weird and random*

I have a 48" hood for a 55/75/90 that just needs a new ballast.....Has the bulbs in it still too....

silver and blue hmmmmm....I LIKE! lol

Yeah my QT tank's downfall was lack of cover. I had 3 caves in there but it still felt empty....

grey or brown hmmmm. darker green will look like moss/algae wouldn't it? Yeah my wallet is going to take a beating from Christmas lol

OOOoOoOoO Christmass Tree fish tank ornament! Oh what great ideas you have lol

Do you *actually* mean 'great ideas' or do you mean 'Chesh is a crazy person?'

I love my silver and blue tree - so much so that I got my kids their OWN tree, so they can still have rainbow lights and miss-matched ornaments. I just. . .couldn't give it up. My tree makes me happy :)

I HAVE a hood, and I have the standard lighting, but I think that I need to go up *just* a smidge on this tank. So far everything is growing, but. . . I know it could do with a nudge. Just hoping everything holds on until I can afford the upgrade!

I extended the rockwork in the 3g tank for the loaches... plus all of the pretty baby ferns and riccia that S.Fox sent me - it's actually pretty darn nice for a QT. But I personally prefer a QT that is much like the real tank. . . only it has to be able to be broken down easily and used for meds if necessary - but we've already been over my dream QT/Hospital tank - and it DOES involve your glass, if/when that's possible with your schedule and my wallet, lol. I plan to start setting it up as soon as I get these loaches in the 55, minus anything that I have to buy, lol! . . . the green/brown/grey (maybe not grey) glass work for driftwood/caves. . .I think it'd be a great color scheme to keep with the natural look I prefer, but with the safety of being able to sterilize it very easily if necessary. Plus some fast growing/cheap stem plants and duckweed to help keep things clean and cycled in case of killer meds, and a bunch of silk plants for the comfort of the fish. It'll be good :)

So you moved your new shoal from QT - how are they doing in the bigger tank? Eating finally???

Rummynose from SE Asia? I think we're talking about two different species here. I'm talking about Hemigrammus bleheri which I'm pretty sure are Amazon species. Sawbwa resplendens are the Asian "rummynose" rasbora which are a cyprinid like barbs and carps. They're actually a hardwater species and wouldn't do too well in a softwater discus setup.

Thank you for clearing that up. That makes more sense. Yeah wow I totally missed the Amazonian one, the common name for it is the Brilliant Rummy Nose Tetra.

Well that is good that you are pointing this out. The ones that I will be getting with the 90 Gallon tank are actually Brilliant Rummy Nose Tetra. I can tell by the stripes on the fins.

Thank you Koi!

The otos I moved are doing good. They have been eating now because there is actually algae in there for them to eat. That was part of the reason why i didn't wait the whole time period of QT to put them in there. I lost two of them :( when I went to move them I found two dead.

Now they are shoaling and seem happy. I see them eating. Been feeding Zuchini and Cucumber. Any other suggestions?

Yea def, I will always be going into the studio so I am always going to be making stuff :) Well glass is easily sterilized. I would say that as long as I don't make any weird areas or anything that sticks out.

:D

Glad to hear the Otos are doing so much better in the big tank, poor little things, sorry you lost two of 'em. You can try them on lots of different veggies and fruits, as long as it isn't strongly flavored (like peppers) and soft enough for them to nom on (if it isn't, blanch it). See what they like - it should be fun :)
