45 gallon

My new 45 gallon. I finally added gravel today plus the water and one of the decorations that it came with. The tank was given to me by a friend of my aunt's who was moving and didn't want it anymore. They had goldfish but gave them back to the pet shop. Now I'm going to use it for mollies and platies. Still haven't decided exactly which kinds I want yet. There's just so many to choose from. I'm also going to be getting some backing in a week or so. I'm thinking maybe a light blue color to go with the gravel. Maybe even black. Any suggestions as to what would look best?

Also, the light from the window to the left of the tank isn't really that bright. I don't know why it looks so bright in the pictures but I've never had too many problems with it. My 10 gallon used to be by that window and there was never enough light leaking through the curtains to cause an allege problem. I'd wipe down the glass every other month with a paper towel and it took care of it.

How exciting, a new tank! I'm a huge fan of black backgrounds. It makes the colors of the fish *pop*.

It came with the tank. The tank used to belong to a friend of my aunt's who lives in Montana. They moved and didn't want to take it with them so when my aunt came back from her vacation she brought it with her and asked if I wanted it. It is a really cool looking rock. I'm glad they didn't throw it away. I put a bubble stone on it, kind of in the middle of the bottom gap and it looks pretty cool with the bubbles coming out of it. Almost like a volcano or something.

If you want to plant it and you can afford it I would do one of the black gravels that are exspecially made for plants. I have one that is by Coralife and I love the way it looks and the plants seem to do very well in it. Congrats on the new tank.

Kindest Regards,

Keeping fish its not a hobby it is a passion!

I have a 55 gallon, 40 gallon, 29 gallon, 20 gallon tank, 5 gallon , and a 2.5 gallon all with real plants.
